Wedding Decor pt2.

Ashley, on June 5, 2019 at 10:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 6
I put part 2 because I am pretty sure I have already made a post about this. WHY IS DECOR SO EXPENSIVE! We have been doing a pretty good job about staying within our $10k budget. I was able to negotiate with my caterer, the venue was a gift from my parents, and I saved thousands (yes, thousands!😊) on my photographer and videographer. We have since hit a wall about decor. I knew I wanted a lot for my decor, so I up'd the budget to $4k because I want throne chairs, chiavari chairs, drapes, uplights, among the normal table linens, charger plates, napkin rings etc. I just KNEW $4k would be enough. It's not 😔 so now, we had to up our budget $2k just to make room for decor. My wedding planner and I have been getting into arguments about me wanting what I want, but I have already compromised so much. If I have to change anything else, off to the courthouse we go.

Hmmm.....bummer. I agree that decor can be very expensive. People say you can save money by DIYing everything, but that's not always the case.

The point is that you want what you want for your wedding, and you recognize that you may need to increase your budget to get what you want. For your throne chairs, chiavari chairs, etc., you're talking about rentals, right? I guess I would just comb every rental place within 500 miles to get the best pricing. Beyond that I don't think there's much else you can do. I'm all about the research, and I have found that with enough research, I have been able to find items for low low prices. Hopefully that's working for you too!! Good luck!

I'm a sale hunter. I have named myself lol yes! I do not care! I am a sale hunter! But it helps my venue space is small, because is a garage... Lol I'm lucky huh!
Good luck though! Just breathe and carry on. You can do this!

Can your venue make referrals for rentals? Ours did and it saved us over $300 compared to other companies.

It adds up so fast! Our $3,000 budget has definitely turned in to closer to $5,000 after it's all said and done.

That type of decor would certainly add up. Especially when it's for a wedding. When you look at your budget maybe you can compromise in other areas such as spending less on favors or cake or whatever else so that that money can be shifted to decor

All that decor will definitely add up for a wedding. Could you do plastic silverware and plates/cups and paper napkins? We're still doing chargers and have a lot of nice decorations, but to help stay in budget, we decided to do plastic instead of renting "real" flatware/plates/cups. I, initially, wanted to have everything "real", but it wasn't going to work with our budget. Amazon has a lot of really pretty plastic options that look super nice! We're shooting to stay closer to $10k as well, but my mom is okay with going to $13k-$15k.
