Wedding day timeline help

Emily, on January 21, 2020 at 11:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

I'm trying to wrap my head around a wedding day timeline. It's a small wedding, 33 people on my guest list. I've hired our photographer for 5 hours because that's all I could afford so I'm trying to fit everything in that time frame and get all the pictures that I want. We are not doing a big send off at the end so that's helpful. Our ceremony and reception are at the same location so no traveling required. We do not have a wedding party, so it's me and the groom, my mom and his mom and dad. This is what I have so far. Can I get my WW family to look over it and offer suggestions or add anything I'm not thinking about?

5PM - Ceremony

5:30 - Cocktail hour for guest. Pictures for wedding party.

6:15 - Entrance to reception and dinner announced. (we are having a food truck for people to go up and get food instead of a traditional buffet or sit down meal)

7:15 - First Dance and Family Dance

7:30 - Cake Cutting

My photographer will be there at 3:30 to take detail pictures and first look pictures before the ceremony. I feel like if she's there until 8:30 (5 hours) that my wedding day timeline looks ok for her to get everything we want. Do I have it too crammed/not adding buffers? I understand nothing will go the way I think it should go but I also feel like it's doable! We are not doing a bouquet toss, garter toss or a big send off at the end. Does anyone have suggestions for me?

Looks good! But things will always take longer than you expect. Not having a wedding party will make things easier photo-wise, but you can always get more photos done before the ceremony. What time are you doing the first look? I think that would be an important time to have written down. Considering you're doing food trucks, you may need more than an hour for dinner, as the food trucks will probably make the orders as they get them. Everything else looks great!

Our first look is scheduled for 4. Detail photos at 3:30 and anytime between first look photos and ceremony is going to be used for the setting photos. I agree that it might take more than an hour for dinner and I feel like I’m ok with that. As long as we cut the cake before 8 I’m happy. I’m glad everything looks good!

It looks good, Emily. I agree with the points Annajoy made also but as long as you're ok with dinner running over, that's cool!

It may be best as the day approaches to discuss this timeline with the photographer and make sure everything looks ok from his/her side. They may even have some suggestions for ways to save some time Smiley smile
