Wedding Day Primer/Foundation Suggestions

Candace, on December 31, 2014 at 10:40 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I'm on the hunt for a new foundation for my wedding day (and life in general). My makeup artist gives a nice discount if we provide our own foundation, which I like because I know how it will last throughout the day and look in pictures! My skin is mostly oily in the t-zone and I tend to stick to medium-full coverage foundations- I love a flawless face. Are there any foundations and/or primers you have used or recommend for wedding day? Price isn't a deciding factor for this. Thank you! Smiley smile

I am using an hourglass primer because I have combination skin like you. But....it does tend to get quite a bit dewy in the summer, so I only use that primer in the drier months.

Make Up Forever makes a whole bunch of really good ones which I would recommend using for a big event.

On a daily basis, I wear IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream - I would say it's more like a tinted moisturizer, but it evens out my skin really well. I guess it depends on how clear your face is.

Naked by Urban Decay is wonderful! It doesn't have SPF in it so you won't be shiny in any pictures and it is literally weightless! I switched over two years ago and my skin is better than ever!

For primer, I would get the smashbox ones. They work wonderfully. I highly recommend Make Up Forever HD.

Wonderful! Thank you. My skin is clear but I have freckles and pigmentation which is usually what I try to cover Smiley smile

I'm also going to recommend smashbox primers. I have the clear photo finish one and the green one that helps reduce redness. I would suggest going to Sephora for foundations and primer. They will give you small samples of them so you can try them out at home before purchasing.

*Helpful hint* Make sure that you allow the primer and foundation to completely dry on the skin before adding on more products. I would say like 1-2 mins for each. I found this helps my makeup stay on for a long time and not look like I have a ton on.

I use a Lancome foundation and a Smashbox primer and I love both of them. Sephora helped me find the Lancome foundation through whatever skin color matching software they have. It's a medium-sheer coverage foundation and goes on beautifully!

I'd also recommend getting the Urban Decay All Nighter spray to help set your makeup once everything has been applied.

I love Make Up Forever HD for foundation (remember no SPF) and urban decay has the best eye primer IMO...The Urban Decay All Nighter spray is a good idea too!

If you have redness i highly recommend smashbox foundation primer - The green one. My mother has rosacea and that works great on her

For those who recommend the Smashbox green primer, do you use a mix of regular and the green depending on what areas of your face are red? For example, I get a little pink under my nostrils and also between my eyebrows. The rest of my face is just neon white with some freckles and occasional blemishes.

I use almost all of the regular primer and only use the green in small spots like around my nostrils or to hide a blemish. My skin is fairly clear and even toned and I have freckles (but I don't try to go out of my way to hide them).

I would say go to Sephora or local department Store and get samples ... I have combo skin and I personally like estee lauder double wear ... The tarte amazonian clay foundation (lasts very long) is a favorite of clients too as well as Bobbi Brown.. The only reason I say get samples is everyone's face is different and reacts different.... hope that helps
