Wedding Day Logistics - What did you do with your stuff???

Steffanie, on September 27, 2017 at 9:46 AM Posted in Planning 1 4

So, trying to figure out logistics on my upcoming wedding day (23 days away). What does a bride do with her stuff? What happens with things like your purse (your REAL purse not the little thing we carry that day LOL)? I will be checking out of a hotel room before the ceremony and I believe my groom is arranging a friend to take my clothes, etc. to the honeymoon hotel suite but i'm not sure what you ladies did with personal items? How does all this work?

The venue we selected had a private bridal suite that is closed off to guests so we will be keeping personal items in there.

I would assume you wouldn't need much but your phone and maybe a small clutch purse. I would ask your DOC if there is a safe space (maybe an office) where you could keep that if there is no private bridal suite.

You can always leave some things at the hotel you may be staying at, or at home.

I've had to do some serious thinking/planning about this as well. We are leaving for our honeymoon the morning after our wedding, so we are putting our luggage and carry-on's in my dad's trunk the night before our wedding. Our carryon will have my purse/FH's wallet. I will have a small clutch for the wedding day with my phone/mirror/some cash, which will be left in the bridal room during the ceremony. Then I will take it with me to the reception. I'm thinking a family member will hold FH's phone during the ceremony and he will have it the rest of the night. Your fail safe is just to ask a family member or bridesmaid to help keep track of your purse or whatever essentials you need with you that day. If something gets left behind, someone can always go get it for you. So many things to think about! Haha

This is exactly what FH and I were trying to work out last night. We go straight from the honeymoon suite to the airport early in the morning and couldn't figure out wtf we were going to do with my dress, his suit, etc. He's going to go check into our hotel earlier in the day, while the girls are getting ready and will leave our luggage for travel there. We decided just to leave what's not going with us in the car while we're on our trip. I am very antsy about that because we're using hotel parking rather than airport parking and I'm skeptical of security.

As for my regular purse stuff, I haven't quite figured that out. I think that I am going to put it in the kitchen, in a cabinet at the venue. My other option is just to lock it up in the car, which will be going with us to the hotel that night. We're in a pretty remote area for the wedding and will have security, so I'm not too concerned with someone swiping it.

There are so many small logistical issues like this that I hadn't really thought through until the past few days. I am so glad we hired a DOC to help us figure all of this out!
