Wedding day beauty prep

Taylor, on September 21, 2022 at 12:31 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
So I’m not one to do a lot of beauty care. I don’t get my nails done, or eyebrows waxed or lashes done. I just do the standard clip and file your nails and tweeze the brows lol. I don’t wear makeup at all (I’m terrible at it. And poor?? It’s so expensive 😅) Well I’ve made all my appointments as the wedding nears. So I have a nail appointment, eyebrow wax/tint, very basic eyelash extensions, an appointment to dye my hair and put sew in extensions in and get a spray tan. Of course I pick quality businesses so I don’t look crazy but the added price of everything is around $1k 💀 And these things all need to be fixed every 3-6 weeks generally. How do people afford this stuff regularly??
I love to travel and have experiences and I told my fiancé I’d rather just be ugly and go on nice vacations than do this regularly 😂 to each their own. Thankfully this will probably be a one time thing for me lmao

Anyone else panic when they saw the overall cost of getting prepped for wedding day?

In the UK beauty treatments are much more affordable (which is arguably bad because the lovely people working in the beauty industry definitely aren't paid enough!) so here the cost is considerably less off putting.

I'm able to do my own nails which saved me a lot and my appoints for my hair (which only needed a trim!) and eyelash extensions would have come to around £70, but I ended up having to cancel both those appointments as I had covid in the run up to the wedding Smiley atonished

Honestly I would just compartmentalise the costs as part of the overall cost of having a wedding!

I wax my own brows, dip my own nails, do my own spray tans. That's how Smiley xd Smiley xd I'm with you, I'd love to be one of those girls who look flawless 24/7 but I'd much rather have experiences. Doing it myself allows me to feel/look a bit nicer without going broke! I wish I could have extensions, can't quite justify that one yet lol

I spent $400 on hair extensions alone😅 that should definitely make you feel better about not being able to justify that decision yet lol

$400 of that was just hair extensions 😅 then I’ll pay roughly $150 to get my hair dyed. Then when you look at it everything else is smaller costs that just add up.
    $40 eyebrow wax/tint
$60 spray tan$100 eyelash extensions$100 basic facial$75 gel manicure for my nails So all that added up isn’t bad. It’s the hair that’s KILLING me lol

My typical splurge on myself is getting my hair done every 6 weeks, so I'll be going in a few days before the wedding to get it freshly dyed. I'm fortunate enough to have pretty long hair, so I don't need to worry about extensions! As far as everything else goes, I'm purchasing some reusable fake nails to put on myself at home the night before. I'm too hard on my hands and I've messed up any manicure I've ever gotten, so I don't trust that I won't mess something up setting up on Friday. I'll probably add a pedicure to my hair day though.

If I had extra money I probably would've tried to get 2 or 3 facials in the months leading up. I've just been trying to keep up with my skincare routine at home better than normal lol.

I would love to get my hair done all the time but just hate spending the money. So I don’t do my nails either. My fiancé just had to convince me to buy a few pairs of jeans BEFORE my other ones got holes lmao. Not wait until. I just don’t have all kinds of money in the world so I just don’t like spending the little I do have unless it’s for some kind of trip or experience. I tried growing my hair out for the wedding but my hair was literally breaking off from all the bleach I was doing at home during the pandemic so I cut it short back in March. I prefer it short anyway so that made me happy but now I have to pay up to get it done for the wedding 😅 and I wish I could’ve done some more facials but again, money, so I’m just doing one to kind of buff away some garbage lol

Yikes! I got highlights in my hair and a haircut and then had my nails done. I’m with you in not really doing a lot day to day, including makeup. I literally only ever wear makeup if I am in a wedding honestly. I got my hair and makeup professionally done for my wedding day, but I didn’t do any extensions or eye lash stuff or any of that. I honestly didn’t even think to do all those things. Completely personal preference but if you don’t want to do those things, you don’t need to do them in order to be beautiful on your wedding day. If you feel like this is a way to pamper yourself, then by all means go all out. But I wouldn’t say that is necessarily the norm or what is expected as far as wedding beauty prep.

Yeah it’s something I want to do. I want to do a little more than my norm since it’s my wedding day but definitely don’t want to not feel like myself and have too much heavy makeup which is why I’m just doing classic extensions that aren’t very dramatic or think. Just something to boost the appearance a bit lol

I'm getting my nails done for the wedding, but I usually just do my own. Same goes for my hair, I'll usually just get a major chop, let it go until it's grown out and I get sick of it, then repeat the whole process over again. Plus I have bangs, so that pretty much guarantees my eyebrows are an afterthought lol. Makeup is my one indulgence, but most of the stuff I use doesn't need to be replaced often enough that it becomes a major expense.
