Wedding Date

Melissa, on March 30, 2020 at 1:58 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19
Hello Everyone,
Wishing you all and your families many blessings throughout this difficult time. My question to you all is..would you re-schedule your November wedding? I’m having a hard time figuring out if I should. Not to mention, I never sent out our Save the Dates. I was planning on sending them out the beginning of March, but then this all happened. It’s definitely not the time. Any suggestions? Or thoughts?

I think november would be ok to keep planning for. i understand some things are going to be hard to plan during this time but i am hopeful that by the fall or winter it should be ok!

Thank you! Also, I never sent out our Save the Dates and at this point I don’t think we should. Do you think it’s even worth it to send them out?

I would keep a November wedding as planned. We should be good by then. So many people have to reschedule that dates will be so hard to get going forward.

Sometimes I feel so..selfish asking others what they feel due to what’s going on. I never even sent out our Save the dates. Would you even bother at this point? N when?

I think November is safe, but if you’re worried about guests not being in a good financial place and unable to attend that might be good cause to postpone. My date is set for 9/19/2020 and I have no intention of postponing yet. I would reconsider if crucial attendees weren’t able to make it (parents, grandparents, wedding party, etc.).

Definitely keep your date for now. Of course anything could happen, and while every medical professional is estimating a different “end date” for this, it seems everyone agrees it should be over by the fall. Like I said of course that could end up changing, but at least for now I wouldn’t worry. Maybe reevaluate in like August before you send out official invites

Yeah..I mean my fiancé parents live in Greece so we are just worried as to what’s going to happen. Again, I haven’t even sent out Save the Dates. Do you even think I should at this point? I keep asking this question, but I never get a response. Everything is so..confusing with all that’s going on. Did you have your bridal shower already?

Are your save the dates printed? Could you add a line stating that due to the pandemic you will reevaluate the wedding date in September? If your wedding is able to move forward as planned, it's only fair that you give your guests (especially the international ones) the opportunity to save and plan for your wedding. Best of luck.

Yeah..to be honest I haven’t even printed them. I am the worst. We took the engagement photos in the fall and I waited too long. Idk what to do I think I’ll wait another month.

I just had to postpone mine from May 17th to November 8th because I feel that it would be way more than safe at that point. So I am holding onto hope that this will be over by then.

You're not the worst! We didn't even take engagement photos because we waited too long.

Since you haven't printed the save the dates yet, you have tons of options and a lot of time. With everything that's going on, I would wait until end of April to send them. You can get them for cheap on Zazzle (don't buy full price -- there's always a sale around the corner) and if you want, you can only send them to people who have to travel far. On the cards you can say that they can check your wedding website for details about the wedding date and any pandemic-related postponement, if needed.

I think you're on a good path, so no worries! Smiley smile

Ordinarily, unless there are lots of long distance or international guests, most people don't send Saves out til around 5-6 months, if at all.
Saves are a new invention. For years, people gave advance notice if needed by phone, then email. And by the time you decide, you may not want to take the time to print them and send them out. It is definitely too soon now, too uncertain. July l would be sufficient advance notice for most people not traveling a huge distance. They are not taking advance bookings that don't say, we reserve the right to cancel with no notice. And flights get cancelled if there are not enough travellers . So what would be the advantage of knowing earlier?

Yeah..I suppose you’re right. I mean his parents are the only ones of concern that would be traveling internationally. I guess will just have to give it some more time and do without the Save the Dates if need be. This is so..scary and sad.

Sorry took a long break from planning because of stress and the craziness of the times. If you already have the save-the-dates ready you might as well. My friend is getting married in October and she decided to send save-the-dates just because she’s already ordered and received them. There’s just no right answer here which sucks. I had a virtual meeting with my coordinator this last weekend and she advised me to keep planning and we’ll reassess in July. My shower is still scheduled for 8/22/2020 and I have not yet sent invitations. I plan to prepare my wedding and shower invites now in the downtime and send out late June and early July. I’m hopeful since there’s talks of opening up but I’m also still preparing plan B by reaching out to my vendors about their feelings and policies.

No worries! I agree with you 100%. I think I’m going to give it two more months and if we are still in the same position I will postpone. We have family in Greece coming and in other states, so that’s a concern. My mom was also planning on traveling here to throw me a bridal shower, but at this point we really don’t know. My sister said to wait on “Save the Dates” as we know everyone is going through allot right now. Another concern is who’s to say they will allow large weddings? It’s soo..hard to really determine anything. I haven’t finished booking things. I’m just praying this will all go away. This is so sad and just overall scary.
