Which do you think is better for a summer wedding. Friday or Sunday I've never imagined having either but the amount of money we save by having a Friday or Sunday wedding is worth it. I need your help!! Smiley smile

I think it depends on what kind of wedding you want. A Friday evening wedding is better for a fun party vibe, but a Sunday afternoon would be nice for a more laid back brunch wedding.

I am doing a Friday wedding, since then everyone has the weekend to visit the area before they have to go back home (it's a semi-destination wedding). I agree with Caytlyn - what are you looking for in a wedding? If you are looking for a dance party, I would definitely do Friday. If it were held on Sunday evening, people may leave early if they have to work the next day. If you're looking for something a little more low key or relaxed, Sundays are great for brunch weddings and/or cake and punch receptions!

If most of your guests are local, then I think a Friday wedding is an easy decision. If you have a significant number of guests coming from out of town, then I'd go with a Sunday wedding for the sake of travel. As a guest, it's much easier (and a lot cheaper) to take an early morning Monday flight back home and only miss half a day of work than to take all of Friday off (possibly part of Thursday as well), and a more expensive flight. For the record, I've been to dozens of black tie Sunday evening weddings with party/dance vibes and the only guests who left early were elderly folks.

Fridays have more of a party vibe because they kick off the weekend. Sunday weddings are very short and subdued with guests leaving early to be able to work the next day. Be aware that not all venues off discounts for being a Friday and many cost the same as Saturdays.

Guests travelling will have to miss work, regardless of that day being Thursday/Friday or Monday and there's no way around that. But the advance notice they have with save the dates and invites is plenty of time to schedule the necessary time off.

If you're wanting more of a dance party vibe for your reception, like stated above, I suggest having a Friday wedding! That way your guests won't have to worry about work the next day and can focus on all the fun that you all will have!

As a guest, I would much rather take a half-day or the whole day off on Friday to attend your wedding! Especially since I would have all day Saturday and Sunday to recuperate and prepare for work on Monday!

We had to choose between a Friday and Sunday since our wedding was postponed, and went with a Friday (in August). We had the ceremony at 6 PM. Most guests were local so they did not have to miss work. And they were able to stay late since they didn't have to worry about work in the morning!

I like the idea of a sunday day time wedding more because you have more time for guests to not feel like they need to leave early for monday work/school the next day. but then if you can't do daytime [lunch] wedding then friday evening is better.
