Wedding Date...

Louticia, on September 30, 2023 at 12:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

Hello people!

My name is Louticia, Ticia for short. I got engaged Dec 24th, 2021 to the Love of My Life, Miguel. Life kind of through us for a loop after our engagement (meaning we had a baby!) but we finally decided to set a date....well, sort of. We want to keep our anniversary date of Sept 26th as our wedding anniversary, but the only catch is, is that it falls on a Thursday, and we want all our family to attend, so we would like it to be on the weekend, yet still keep our anniversary date. Is there a way we can achieve this? Or would we have to sacrifice our anniversary date, for the attendance of our loved ones? Forgive me if this sounds so trivial compared to other's wedding woes. But whatever helpful advice is appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

So the only way you can achieve it being on September 26th and on a Saturday is waiting until you get married. The next time it would fall on a Saturday is 2026. If you don't want to wait that long then the only other option would be to have wedding on a different state if you want it to fall on a Saturday.

You could go to the courthouse and get officially married by the judge and sign your marriage license on your anniversary date. Then you could have a symbolic ceremony and reception on Saturday with all your loved ones.

In your place I'd get married on Saturday and moving forward have a joint celebration. When an anniversary falls in the middle of the week, you'd most likely wait until the weekend to do anything bigger anyway. I have to admit to not understanding the need to have the dates match exactly. The wedding anniversary becomes increasingly significant over the years but I'll make a special dinner or we go out on our dating or engagement anniversaries, too.
