Wedding Date October 11th, 2020

Hi everyone,

First I would like to say I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. Secondly, I would like to send my sincere apologies to those couples that have to postpone or cancel their big day due to COVID-19. I hope you are finding peace in rescheduling or making alternate plans with vendors, family, etc.

As some of you may have heard at the press conference last night, Dr. Fauci stated that he is certain to expect another 'wave' of COVID-19, as they like to call it, in Fall 2020. Our wedding date is October 11th, 2020 in Simsbury, Connecticut. Full disclosure: as a naturally anxious, catastrophic thinker, I am currently panicking that I will be in the same boat as March, April, May 2020 couples. I am just looking for some sense of guidance, relief, advice, etc. if we should consider postponing our wedding to a later date at this time.

Thank you and all the best,

Andrea

Usually in these cases i think the best thing to do first is to contact your vendors and venue or review your contracts to see what your options are for postponement or cancels

That's a good idea. I feel like even the contracts signed do not cover a global pandemic so I am hoping there will be some accommodations made if postponing is the way to go.

I’m October 10th and our wedding is in Philadelphia so I also have apprehension about the fall too. But the Doctor also said that everyone will be better prepared for the second wave, if we have one. There will be better/more testing available and they are workin on treatments now so I am hoping if one does come that will be the case. For now, we are going to keep planning as though things will be better by then. We got engaged August 2018 so I am ready to be married and do not want to postpone a wedding any further or into next year. If you would rather postpone I would look at your contracts and talk to your vendors.

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you for responding! For now, I am going to do the same, continue planning as if we are getting married October 11th. I do not want to postpone either; just wanted to see what others thoughts were if they did have a fall wedding scheduled with the updated news he shared last night. Fingers crossed!!

I agree with Sarah. I think hospitals will be better equipped when or if another wave comes. They are continuing to work on treatments and solutions. Things will get better it will take time. Businesses also can't survive if we continue like this, eventually they will have to let businesses and places reopen.

Yes, I am hoping this is true. I'm just nervous that vendors and small businesses that were hired are going to have difficulty making money during these times (March, April, May) and then possibly will have to close? It might be a far fetched thought, but it is one I'm having. This is all just so stressful, on top of already planning a wedding!

I agree it is very stressful. I hate planning right now to be honest. I don't have much to do this coming month thankfully. I am still looking forward to my date and having the wedding. Sure the guest list might not be as large. I talked to my photographer she has no reason to think she will close. My DJ has a regular job that is considered essential right now so I'm not worried about him too much. My caterer is the only one I'm slightly concerned about. My venue is a hotel so not worried about that too much. We just have to continue to try to make things better. I am looking at this way, I'm going to consider my wedding a huge party not only to celebrate the marriage between my FH and myself but also a huge party that we got through this stupid virus.

That's a good idea reaching out to vendors and seeing how things are going for them during this crisis. Yes! Absolutely a celebration of getting through these difficult times Smiley smile
