Wedding Date - July 5th, 2019

Jaclyn, on July 26, 2018 at 8:34 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi!!!

I always dreamed of a Saturday, September wedding. Long story short we ended up choosing July 5th, 2019 as our wedding date. I've been sort of freaking out because it's on a Friday the day after a holiday, nothing as I had imagined my wedding to be.

Is anyone else feeling this way about the wedding date they chose?!

I felt this way, but probably not to the extent that you do. I did get married on a Saturday, but I wanted to get married in the fall and ended up getting married in the spring. My DH's parents were gone from May - late August and my DH is entering his PhD program in late August so it was April 2018 or we'd have to wait another year or four to get married in the thick of things.

Why did you end up with a Friday in the summer, if you don't mind me asking? I think the day after a holiday (on a Thursday) is great as long as you give your guests plenty of notice. They get a long weekend!

Isn't it funny how your vision changes when you actually get engaged? I'm from a very snowy region of the country and always envisioned a snowy winter wedding using pine cones and holly and the color red prominently. We ultimately decided on a casual Savannah GA wedding in May, with no wedding party/colors.

I think your new date will be perfect. Holiday weekends are so convenient for many guests.

The day after a holiday can be a plus for you. Because in your case the 4th of July is on Thursday. Many guest might automatically have Friday off I would definitely send out STD as soon as possible. I am also doing a holiday weekend in Sept 2019. (the Sunday before Labor Day.)

I wanted to get married on a Saturday but my venue was booked for every Saturday except during the winter. After having attended many weddings over holiday weekends, and being annoyed with having to travel during that time, we never wanted our wedding on a holiday weekend. And who are we? A couple getting married the Sunday of Labor Day weekend! Ah well. Cost-wise it wasn’t any cheaper because our venue treats it like a Saturday. So far, not too many people have declined.

I would send STDs, or at least start spreading the word of your date ASAP. This is only because people already have vacations planned for the fourth of July and I don't want people to miss your wedding because of vacation!!

I would send out Save the Dates early so people know far in advance! I think since it's not on the holiday, you'll be good!

Yessssss ugh. Ours is September 7th. 42 days away. And I've just been getting a lot of "sooo you're getting married on a Friday night???" Like yes I am. Lol. If we didnt pick a Friday with this venue we were getting into the cold months and that wasn't an option...so it will work!!!
