Wedding date is 10/10/2020 - Should i cancel it?

Guys, we just planned a wedding date of 10/10/2020. The date means something to us. Should we postpone it? I wouldn’t want to book a venue to have to cancel

I wouldn’t. Our original date was April 25th but we postponed to September 13th.

I don't think that is necessary. That is 7 months down the road. I would hope by then things will have calmed down

This is our date, too! Have zero intention of canceling or postponing. Right now the biggest struggle for us is FH got laid off due to the shutdown of the Strip. Since we are paying for everything on our own, we'll probably push off buying some things or might skip things so we aren't putting ourselves at risk with one income.

That's my date too. I'm not planning on postponing or canceling, unless things get really crazy about a few months before. I'm just worried about my venue, since it is a restaurant, they are forced to close and hope they don't go out of business all together by the fall.

I think you're ok with that date. Hopefully this will all be long gone by then. That is a very commom date this year. We almost chose that date but had to move it up to August when we're on summer break from school, and it was also not peak wedding month at our venue so much less expensive.

I think it’s a little to early to cancel or postpone October weddings. I’m 10/4/20 and praying hard that things clear up by summer.

My wedding is 10/2. I am seriously considering scaling down our wedding to the point where certain vendors that we've already paid for would not be needed.

BEST case scenario is this will start to taper off after 8 weeks or so. But we don't have enough tests, many people without healthcare, decentralized governments with varying responses, and a lot of people simply aren't doing their part. Viruses can mutate, they can flare up again.
A lot of spring brides are pushing their dates back to summer and fall, so you'd be hard pressed to find vendors. 10/10/20 is also a super popular date because of the double date appeal.
If you're planning a large scale event, I think you'd run into a number of challenges TBH

I think that date is far out enough that you wouldn’t have to worry about canceling.

Have you booked your other vendors already though? As Willow mentioned above, your date is super popular and it’s during the most popular month (October) for weddings. Many couples with that wedding date started booking vendors early 2019. I had a popular date as well (02/22/20) and in order to get my first choice vendors, I had to have most of them booked by March 2019. We booked our venue December 2018 and out of their 5 venue locations on-site, only two were left available.
If you really want that date, I would maybe make sure other vendors are available still for that day and that their vendors you want to hire.

I think it would be an incredible miracle to find a venue that still has that date available. We booked our venue for 10/10/20 in March 2019 and even then, at least 2/3rds of the venues we looked at were already booked for the day.

My wedding is 10/10/20. I have no intention of canceling. Praying that all of this has blown over by then. There's really no definitive way of saying what the world will look like 7 months down the road. All you can do is prepare to the best of your abilitySmiley smile
