Wedding Date Change?

Erin, on January 20, 2020 at 9:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I kind of just need someone to talk me out of it xD. There's no reason for it, but a part of me wants a winter wedding. The snow in the mountains is gorgeous, and I just love the furry white bridal cape I found that doesn't make sense for a June wedding D:. But I know it's impractical. It's cold (I hate being cold), a lot of our guests are coming from out of state, and flights could easily be delayed or cancelled due to bad weather, and the roads up to the mountains can be closed for the same reasons. My FH also asked me if I was SURE when I changed the date last time lol. The struggle is real.

I can totally understand this struggle I love winter and everything snow lol so I wanted originally a winter wonderland wedding but ended on a july wedding instead. quest have much more availability in the summer months for vacation times and time off kids are off school and a lot better travel weather and weather to do outdoor themed for the wedding! Smiley smile I'm sure whichever date you choose it will still be a magical special day!!!!

Thank you Smiley smile I know that stuff is all true. 2 of my cousins (who I actually like and want to have there) likely won't be able to go (since June 12th is the very end of the school year and they're teachers) so that's probably what is fueling this feeling.

The very end of the school year (especially in special education classes) is usually a black out period where you can't take time off. The date is on a saturday, so it's a possibility, but it's an expensive trip for a day or 2 (NJ to CO)

I'd keep your June date. Colorado winter weddings are beautiful but there are SO many problems you invite in especially for out of town guests. We talked to several venues & vendors that don't do winter weddings at all.

Keep the June date! You could always get the cape for engagement pictures too! Smiley smile

Could you get married over the Spring break period when school is out? I know that you mentioned that the weather would be pretty cool in June for you so would you have wintery weather around that time? Maybe just a little snow but nothing too major that would affect travel?

I like the idea of doing winter E-pics too and keeping your June date. Smiley smile

Don't teachers get a 2 week break during the winter? Sounds like a great opportunity to me.
