Anyone else here that has 8-15-2020 as their wedding date? What all have you gotten situated so far? Anything left you need to do?

Ask the question again, but put August 2020 brides. It may pick up more responses. You’re doing a really great job, if you’re already planning now!

Not a bride - my fiance and I are two grooms. (I'm the one on the left.) We're also getting married on August, 15, 2020. Most of the wedding planning is finished- only big detail I'm working on is the cake at the moment. The rest of it will happen in time once we're a little closer to the wedding. Now we're basically saving up to make payments on things each month. :-)

He proposed to me mid-August and I proposed to him the day after, so that’s the symbolism with why we want our wedding around that time. We started planning not long after we got engaged- maybe a week or two after. Having event planning experience, I took the lead, but my fiancé also helped by reaching out to our photographer and DJ. He’s been involved with every decision we make. We mainly spend a little time each weekend to plan something for the wedding so even some of the small details are planned.

We have the venue, the photographer, the florist, and the videographer done. We have a catering tasting set up for April, though we need to plan some more (it's difficult because we're planning from 600ish miles away - we moved a couple years ago). I have a dj/photobooth package I'm sort of sitting on, because I want to get everything worked out with the caterer first...

Otherwise, it's just us slowly accumulating everything for our favors and clothing and etc over the next year and a half-ish....

Bride twin here August 15th, 2020! I only have the venue booked. I have made up my mind on the photographer, florist, and bakery but haven't pulled the trigger just yet. I've started looking into doing my own centerpieces and have purchased some of the flowers I will need to do them. I've also started looking at dresses. I made myself a little wedding planner binder and put extra sleeves so if you attend any bridal fairs you can put brochures for places you like in the binder. Happy planning!

    Hi twin!!

We are currently waiting for the contract from the venue, I have narrowed the caterers down to two, just waiting on quotes! We have our photographer booked and I have three wedding dress appointments set for later this year!

8/15/2020 here! We've hired venue/catering, DOC, DJ, ceremony musician, photographer, photo booth, and officiant. The biggest vendors we have left are baker and hair/make up artist. I will be so pumped when all of our vendors are lined up!

Next is invitations, attire, and little details!

I love your story and your planning progress is encouraging. My fiance proposed on August 15th last year and we have not officially set a date yet, lots of life happening lately. As I was setting up my profile for this site I realized that August 15th 2020 is a Saturday! For now that is our tentative date but I love the history. It will also depend on venues and availability. Do you have any advice on venues?

A lot of it depends on your budget and how much your venue can do. Hotels are great as they can usually waive the venue fee so you're mainly being charged catering. It's also convenient because they can also be your host hotel so you don't need to provide transportation for your guests. Places in the city are ridiculously expensive - there are some decent places within the city but most of them alone are at the $40,000 range for catering. To plan everything else outside of that is excessive in my opinion. So I went to the suburbs where the prices are much friendlier. I'm having mine at NOAH's Event Venue, which is fairly pricy for the amount I'm paying for the venue, but they include a lot that other venues don't do and I can customize it exactly to my taste. They have these awesome ceiling decor, which really transforms the space plus they provide lots of linen options, which is mostly free (except you have to pay a cleanup fee for it) as linen can be really expensive if you want more than just black or white. I also really like my venue because we're allowed to get outside catering, which saved us a ton of money. We kept catering to $9,000-$12,000 for 160 people and it includes a gift for all guests. So there were a lot of pros with my venue but it came with a price. Hopefully this helps with your wedding planning. Good luck! Try to enjoy the process. At times it can be really stressful, but it' can also be a lot of fun too. :-)
