Wedding cupcake flavors

Emma, on August 3, 2020 at 1:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19
How many cupcake flavors should we do for our wedding? We will have a small cake for us, it’ll be strawberries and cream. I was thinking we’d have apple spice, red velvet (FH favorite), and turtle. Should we add a fourth flavor? We will be ordering 1.5-2 cupcakes per person.

I would think 3 flavors would be enough! If you wanted to pick another one, you certainly could, though 4 flavors would probably be the max that I would choose, just so there aren't too many options. 3-4 options would give a good variety. Those 3 flavors you have already picked out sound amazing!

I would get a vanilla. Some people are not into creative flavors. I would do a vanilla since the other flavors have a lot going on but they sound awesome. Although only do it if the budget allows. You need to choose the flavors you two prefer and worse case they do not eat cake lol.

    3 is plenty.
Out of curiosity, what is half of a cupcake serving?

Basically our baker said that not everyone will eat 2 cupcakes so say if we had 100 guest, we’d do 150 cup cakes instead of 200 cupcakes

Kristen has a really good point. I agree that getting either chocolate or vanilla or some other "standard" flavor would be a good idea (if budget allows). Otherwise, red velvet is a pretty common flavor, and you should be safe with the 3 you picked if adding a 4th isn't an option.

Interesting. Some people will gladly eat the extras someone else doesn't eat or the leftovers are sent home.

It actually the same price no matter what flavor. We’ll just be getting a total of 8-10 dozen

Yea I just don’t feel like having a ton of let over cupcakes. Most bakers I talked to recommended 1.50-1.75 cupcakes per person depending on how big of a sweet tooth our crowd has

I feel like vanilla is just to boring 😂😅 I know some people love it but to me it’s meh. If I added a cupcake with a vanilla base it’d be a salted caramel cupcake

Oh, awesome! That's good that there isn't any price difference. In that case, I would recommend getting a fourth option that is more of a standard flavor, but I wouldn't do more than 4 flavors.

We are only going with 2 flavors for our wedding. We thought about a 3rd and decided keep it simple with just two.

Our wedding is in the Keys so we went with the traditional Key Lime with Key Lime and our cake and 2nd cupcake flavor is Strawberry with Passionfruit - both are very light and refreshing. We debated on a Chocolate with Dulce but thought it was too rich for a brunch reception.

I think 3 flavors is plenty. Maybe do just a few of the vanilla (like a dozen or less) & the rest of the AMAZING flavors you chose. Sounds yummy! Personally, I wouldn’t order the vanilla or chocolate but that’s just me!

We have a small lemon cake with blueberry filling for the wedding party and three flavors of cupcakes for our guests.
Pink Champagne, White Almond, and Lemon.
We ordered 1 cupcake per person including the wedding party because not everyone eats sweets. So 60 cupcakes plus a small cake.

While you might find it boring, not all of your guests will. My wedding cake was vanilla with vanilla icing. My husband's favorite of the ones we could pick from was strawberry, but I'm allergic. I also don't like chocolate cake or unusual flavors so honestly none of the flavors you've listed would I want to have. I also don't like caramel so if you added a caramel base I wouldn't like it. Yes, I know I'm picky, but you might have guests that are picky as well.
