Wedding Colors

Hello!! I need help with my colors. I've chosen purple and gold but I'm afraid the gold might look tacky. I chose purple since it's my favorite color but I don't want a sea of purple and I'm thinking if I should introduce another color to balance out the gold so it doesn't look tacky. I'm not going for a royal/regal feel but more elegant.

What shade of purple do you plan on using? And what kind of venue do you have?

    Hi Skylar,

Thanks for the suggestions! I was planning on using different shades of purple since I couldn't settle on a particular color. My venue is a historic mountain inn.

I will say that this was about my birthday we had sunday, but we did purple and gold. It wa stunning and beautiful. You can definitely incorporate copper, silver, black into the color theme. But adding both light and dark purple are great ideas. The best advice I can give is if youre doing a colored table cloth or runner that you do a different color for the centerpieces. Also try using the runner color for your napkins or use white napkins. You can go overboard, but adding those neutral black and whites will really help feel like it is toned down.

Maybe mix a few shades of purple so it’s not overwhelming? Have your main purple, then maybe a shade darker and a shade lighter or two lighter shades. Gold works best as an accent IMO, so you don’t want to use a ton.

    Hi Andrea,

That's a good idea, I'm thinking of having different shades of purples and adding a neutral color but using the gold as accents.

    Hello,

Purple and gold are beautiful together, and I do understand what you're saying about the two bold colors. I'm trying to think of what could be your soft color so it doesn't give Mardi Gras vibes...Hmmmm, I'll check back in on ya

If you are going to do different shades of purple and gold, I would suggest putting in a darker color, like a navy blue as the primary color to showcase the different shades of purple and gold as accent colors. Or, if you prefer lighter shades of purple, I might suggest having white as the backdrop. A rose gold/ copper might be nice as a metallic color either by itself, or in addition to yellow gold.
