Wedding color indecisiveness

Taylor, on April 1, 2022 at 4:52 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
Is anyone else not sticking really hard to their wedding colors? What I mean is that the colors for my wedding are burnt orange and burgundy. So my fiancé is wearing a burgundy colored suit and my bridesmaids will be wearing a terracotta/burnt orange color. Our decorations will be all white mixed with those two colors. But then like our invitations and Wedding stationary is all green with a little bit of orange to try to stick to the color scheme a bit. But all the wedding stationary is all forest themed since we’re getting married in a forest setting so it just looks better in green instead of making the invitations a different color. I’m getting all of my stationary from basic invite so I have like 100+ colors I can pick to make the invitations but I just don’t wanna make the tree graphics orange lol. I like the green and the forest look even though green is not our color. Anybody else just kind of doing whatever feels right and not sticking to a specific color scheme? Or am I crazy lol

It sounds to me like green is also a color for your wedding, and that's okay. I think as long as everything is cohesive it doesn't matter what your "official" colors are.

You're not crazy at all! Our invitations were just white with black font. I don't ever remember receiving wedding stationary that matched the colors of the wedding. The only thing we had that had our colors in it were the bridesmaid's dresses, the bouquets and the napkins our venue offered. Even most of our decor didn't include our wedding colors.

So, I kinda decided that I don't like coordinating a bunch of colors. I (apparently) find it forced. So I've been making sure things go together, and look good. But am 100% avoiding pushing "my colors" onto everything, and am letting things be mostly natural. I think that having a nice forest-y look on your stationary is will look great, especially since it's in the forest. I love that. And I wouldn't worry about the colors. Honestly, it's over done.

That totally works for a forest vibe! We're doing deep teal, mulberry, and silver as our colors, but I've told plenty of people our colors are jewel tones, and the floral motif on our save the dates includes blush. If anyone wants to walk around comparing our save the dates/ invitations to what everything's actual colors are on our wedding day, they have bigger issues than my ability to color-coordinate lol

I like your color scheme. You should go with it. It's you and your partner's wedding day and I think if you have favorite colors you want to incorporate that makes you and your partner happy then go for it. It doesn't necessarily have to go with a specific season. I also like a color coordinating scheme too but if you don't like it then don't do it. I am doing bright yellow and plum purple for our colors, and it looks gorgeous.
