Wedding Check-in?

Brittany, on February 3, 2020 at 12:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13

So I've been trying to figure out this whole escort card vs table chart for our chests. We have 300 confirmed guests for our wedding and I was wondering if instead of escort cards or a table chart if anyone has ever had someone check in their guests? I wanted to kind of have it where when guests arrive they are checked in by 1-2 people at the front and they are told which table they are assigned to. Any thoughts on this or am I crazy? haha

I don't see an issue as long as you're okay with the added expense.

Okay i was wondering if it may slow the entry way up once they arrive to the reception area but i guess it still will either way if they are looking for their name. I think I may try to do that have a table chart and someone assisting.

This would be a great idea for my reception because I have a few family members that keep telling me that they will see me on my wedding day that I did not invite lol. Are you thinking about doing this check in process because you believe it will go quicker?

Haha! I know the feeling we have family doing the same thing. I was thinking it might be faster and then save with some confusion. My FH's family has a lot of Sr's and Jr's and the II's and they all aren't sitting at the same tables. I can easily see some of the family being confused with escort cards or taking forever looking at a table chart and thought having someone actually tell them where they are seating might help.

That's pretty common in asian wedding so you are not alone! I will have printed excell sheet with guest names & assigned table and each bridemaid will have a copy to check the guests when they sign in.

We used escort cards and all our servers also had a copy of the seating chart (an alphabetized list of guest names with their table number next to it) in case someone forgot to grab their escort card or something

This would make me feel like I was going to a restaurant and checking in with the hostess. I guess I understand the concept, but as a guest, I would find it odd.

Thanks, i never thought about it that way...that is true. I guess i was hoping it would help them to be less confused but I don't want it to come off as tacky.

I don’t think it’s tacky per say. I just don’t think it’s very wedding like, if that makes sense? But only you know what will work for you. 300 is a large guest count, so if you think that will streamline things, go for it!

I think that's a great idea! Especially since you are having a larger number of guests at the wedding. Having a larger wedding like that could cause confusion if they had to look at a table chart themselves. If you had people at tables to check them in and tell them where they are sitting, I think it'll speed up the process of getting guests into the reception hall.
