Wedding Ceremony starts at 5pm - what time do should I start hair and makeup?

meesh1204, on November 7, 2013 at 3:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I am having my hairstylist and makeup artist come to my house (which is approx 20 mins from our ceremony site.) Ceremony starts at 5pm! What time do you think I should have my hair/makeup started? I do not want to have it done TOO early..but also need time (about an hour or so) to have the photographer take some pictures of me and my bridesmaids as well as some solo shots!

What do you all think??

    Are you doing first looks?

Honestly, your hair and mua would know exactly when to start when you tell them at what time you want to be done.

Are you the only one she's doing? Ask her what she thinks, but I would guess that if you're getting pics, you'd want to be done by 3 at the absolute latest. And, that's if you're the only one she's taking care of.

I would ask your hairstylist and MUA but my sister is both and she suggests really early and if it's good quality everything will stay in place for the entire night! probably noon!

My ceremony is at 5, and I want to be done by 3pm.

Hair is starting at 9am for 7 people.

Make Up at 10am for 5 people.

They will both spend about an hour each on me, so if it were only me getting ready, I would probably start at like 12:00 or 12:30, so you have time for a few minute break between the two.

Is your MUA and HS doing everyone elses make up too? I would get yours done last so depending on your bridesmaids, start around 10?

My ceremony will be at 4 and my MUA and HS is coming with her friend at 9am to do me, my 4 bridesmaids, jr bridesmaid, fg's hair, and FMIL and MOB. none of us will have up do's so basically we'll be sitting around drinking mimosa's with curlers in our hair for a while

Ask your MUA. It depends on how many girls. what kind of treatments (are they covering tattoos? Complicated updos?)

Always add extra time and make sure your girls are on time. Your whole wedding can be thrown off if the MU is late.

I have 4 Bridesmaids (including my MOH) - only 2 of the girls want their hair done professionally...and ALL of them will be doing their own makeup! Hope that helps!

Also depends on how many stylists are coming. They would know what time they need to start to get you done in time to get dressed.

    10:00 Bridesmaid #1

    10:30 Bridesmaid #2

    11:00 Bride hair

    12:45 EAT

    1:00 Makeup

    2:00 Get Dressed

    2:30 Photos

4:00 Pack up and get into cars

4:30 Arrive at Ceremony to check out decorations

4:35 First Touch photos around corner or a door

Then hide in bride room/bathroom break/touch ups

    5:00 Ceremony

Our appointment starts at 9:00 a.m. for 7 people including me and our ceremony starts at 4 p.m. I agree if they are good quality and have enough hairspray the hair will hold all day!

At my friend's wedding ours was done early and my hairstyle even stayed in overnight! (and I promise it didn't look weird or greasy with that much hairspray haha)

This is really something that you should be asking the makeup and hair team. All makeup artists and hair stylists are different and can take less or more time depending on their level of experience and the styles you want.

I NEVER EVER do the bride last. The bride is always first or second. I will touch up the bride before she leaves and the makeup lasts all day anyways. The photographer will need you first so you should be done first. Also you don't want the makeup artist/hair stylist rushing if you are last because they don't have enough time at the end.

Only my MOH and I got our hair and make up done. Her appt was at 1 and my stylist blew right through both of us and made us look good. mine was at 2 but I believe she started at 1:40 and we were done by 2:30 which was kind of unfortunate because my photographer didn't show up til 2:30 so I had to fake my pics of getting ready and my wedding started at 4:30
