Wedding catering (I know I'm going to get negative comments but that's okay)

My FH loves chik-fil-a! He has been telling me that he really wants it st our wedding. I've always wanted the picture perfect wedding with an amazing sit down dinner. However, I value his opinion and it is way cheaper. I love their food too but I'm not sure it's what I want in a wedding. But I am...

But I am seriously considering it because I want him to be happy and the money could be spend elsewhere. Has anyone used a chain restaurant to cater? How did your guests like it?

My guess is that you haven't asked your guests how they feel about homophobic fast food at a wedding.

Well if you were set on doing this, why did you ask? You got all sorts of ideas on how you could make this work (late night snack! cocktail hour!) as well as a lot of feedback on why it's wouldn't be welcome.

And IMO, when a corporation uses their position and resources to directly advocate against the human rights of a minority population, they deserve to be boycotted. This is a whole different level of awfulness than simply holding a shitty belief in the privacy of your own mind.

I used to work at Chick-fil-A, and a lot of people would order trays to eat when getting ready for their wedding! It turned out great because people could munch on nuggets as they want them. If you decide on having it as a late night munchie, ask them about their heater bags. Most stores would let you have them for the weekend and it will keep the food warm and at health standards!

What happened to "negative comments are okay"?

    Clearly an askhat.

I guess when you started to get them, it felt different, eh?

Now you're firmly in NWMFT territory.

I don't think this is a great idea, and this is coming from someone who is doing wood fire grilled pizza buffet for their reception dinner. We, like you, wanted our wedding to reflect us as a couple but also wanted to make sure it was properly hosted. We knew that we wanted pizza but put it out of our mind because dominos was just not an option for us. Our venue coordinator sent us a small list of licensed caterers that they use at their venue and we about fell off our chair when we found a pizza vendor. They make delicious, made from scratch pizza that they cook in their huge wood fire grill trailer that they bring to the venue.

Take pieces of you and FH and come to a compromise. Use chick-fil-a for the rehearsal. Or have it for lunch the day of your wedding while getting ready and go with something a bit more realistic for a reception dinner.

ETA: I was trying to be nice and helpful with my comment but after seeing your "its MY day" comment I'm annoyed. You're like the girl who asked on FB today if her blue fake flowers from Walmart look okay for her bouquets and when people said they look cheap she got defensive. Don't ask if you aren't looking for actually advice.

Oh good lord if we all boycotted companies that we had ethical issues with, there wouldn't be anywhere left to shop. do you know how many companies have gotten in trouble for using child labor? i'll give you a hint...it's not just walmart.

Macy, that's extremely untrue. There are plenty of ethical companies that would be happy to take our money. That's the point of boycotting an unethical company. There are plenty of other places to shop/eat.

Oh FFS. You got a ton of perfectly reasonable feedback. Your attitude is really awful.

Macy, what? CFA has been one of the most public companies (other than Hobby Lobby) about the fact that they don't respect LGBT people. It goes way beyond unethical practices.

I don't know...it's tacky,....but I'd rather have that than something self catered. I wasn't aware they catered events.

It won't be as good as it is fresh. Especially the waffle fries. I'd pass.

Unpopular opinion: I don't hate this idea.

I've never had Chik-Fil-A, but In n' Out trucks are a popular wedding dinner option here. I've only ever heard VERY positive things about it. People love it! Just make sure you cover those with dietary restrictions. This is probably obviously, but this type of idea would fit well with a backyard, casual wedding where people wore jeans and polos, but not at a formal affair. If you're having a formal wedding, it might be better to do this for the rehearsal dinner.

There are plenty of ways to find ethical companies and plenty of ways to avoid flagrant offenders. It sounds like OP wasn't even aware of the CFA controversy. But the justification that everyone sucks so what the hell? Isn't really a justification, except to the person using it.

My sister had it for an event- reception after a funeral- it was not as good as when it's fresh- not at all.

There is that, it's not going to be the same served not fresh,...and the controversy that surrounds the company...maybe better take a left on that.

I'm going to agree with PP and say it might be better to do as a late night snack - love the chicken minis idea!

Or, do it at the rehearsal dinner. I've seen major chains at those. My aunt had CFA at the brunch the next morning after my cousins wedding and it was a hit Smiley smile
