Wedding cars

Emma, on December 16, 2018 at 1:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 13
My grandfather has a vintage wedding car that he will be driving myself in along with my parents. Our ceremony, location photos/shoot and reception are all at the same venue. My bridesmaids are about 25 minutes from the venue, and the groom+ groomsmen 15 minutes from the venue. Is it worth hiring cars for the bridesmaids and groomsmen considering we will only have the cars for 30 minutes tops? My fiancé thinks it’s not worth it and should just skip the cars and save money. But would it be rude if we paid for an Uber or something like that for the bridal party?

Most cars you hire for an event have a 3-hour minimum which makes the cost around $900 depending on the hourly rate (using my experience as an example). So it doesn't make sense to hire cars for less than an hour. But getting Ubers is a good idea and is considerate of your wedding party.

I wouldn't bother! I'm sure most of them will understand and for a 30 min max car ride i don't think they will be judge-y of that!

uber would make the most sense to me, and there is not really a huge difference (other than the cost and how fancy)

Nope, not worth it (love your grandpa is driving you in his vintage car!). I would ask your friends how they felt about an Uber because honestly, as a BM I’d rather drive myself.

My family has a lot of vintage cars, dad and grandpa love cars. We were going to hire drivers because my FH and his men were at a different location but my grandpa said he was happy to drive us all. So he went to get the men first and dropped them off. Then he cane to get the ladies and dropped us off. It worked out great and didn’t spend any money. We drove away in my dad’s 66 bug. Here are photos, I love them so much more because they are family cars.
Overall, I would let the others, if they aren’t arriving with you, decide if they want to take an Uber or if they want to take their own cars.

I would have them take an Uber. Maybe they can all meet at a spot where they can leave their cars so it’s only one Uber ride together, then they just have to get their cars the next morning? I’ve never seen it but I’ve heard there’s a fancy Uber choice too (where I live just got Uber a year or so ago so it’s not as established as other cities). So then your party could travel in style.

Whenever I have been the bridesmaid for a wedding, I transported myself to everywhere we needed to be. Wasn't a big deal and the bridesmaids usually carpooled! Plus then we got to go straight home after the event without having to wait for an Uber to pull up!

I don't think Uber is rude, as long as you pay for it. However the bridal party gets there, the bride & groom need to pay for transportation both ways.

Hi Emma! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats on your engagement! That's so great that your grandpa is driving you in his vintage car! Smiley heart

I agree with earias, an Uber would be a great option and considerate too, being that you are still providing transportation for your bridesmaids but only needing it for a short amount of time. How many bridesmaids do you have?

We decided to rent a luxury car at https://realcar.nyc/ for this important occasion and were perfectly satisfied with the way it turned out. Price was nice too so that was definitely a right decision.
