Wedding Card Box Help

gamecock0207, on January 2, 2015 at 6:55 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Does anyone know the dimensions a wedding card box needs to be? I am trying to get my fiancé to make a wooden box for us to put our cards in to save us some money but I am not sure how large it should be? Any help is greatly appreciated! Smiley smile

We just made ours Tuesday! I believe it was 12x14 box. We wanted something rather large so that we can put wedding things in it after the wedding. We also put a hinged lid on it. I'll upload a photo later, I'm on my phone now.

It also cost us around $30, the ones I found on etsy that I liked were $95+. I'm glad we went this route.

My FH is making ours per my own request, I am worried about it being too small too, however, He says he hasn't ever been at a wedding were anyone gave gifts or cards... IDK if this is a southern thing or not? I wanted to set up a place for the cards,. but I feel like (since it's 90% his family coming) that they might think i'm being presumptuous putting our a sign for cards...

I suppose that would depend on how many guests you are having. mine was a small chest, probably a foot and a half wide, and half a foot tall, but it did not come close to being full, even though we had 70 people. I would say that if it's 100 or less a shoebox size should work.

I have been working on ours this week. I took a Christmas card we had laying around and used it as my measure.

If you are a fan of Michael's craft store like me, and have one where you are, they have great decorative boxes with hinged or magnetic lids! Ones with beautiful flowers on them etc, in all different sizes. Right now they are on sale 40% off, I got mine last week. Super cute! I'm doing a very small/informal wedding though, so this works for us. They also have all the little last minute things for weddings that I never imagined them carrying….my new favorite store Smiley winking Bought my invitations, thank you cards, wedding rice, favor bags, cake cutting tools and a few other things there (decently priced).
