Wedding cancelled/postponed? If so, how much did it cost you?

Thanks for the reply. We are in phase 1 here in WA and if things go according to plan, our date will be in phase 4, and the venue believes cancelling our wedding is more of a personal decision at that point. Of course they are willling to re-consider refunding full amount if there is another lockdown or if phase 4 gets delayed, but as of now, our date is within phase4. So they are saying, they are willing to lose half of their revenue for the day next year and we should share the burden of the other half.

I don't blame them too much but just feels bitter.... coz as a business owner myself, I dont think the business should be responsible for 100% of the Covid related financial damage as we are all victims of this situation.....im just devastated that it had to me and others who are in same boat...

Personally, if I was in your situation I would have honestly waited to see what was going to happen, but I can also understand why you'd feel the need to postpone all the way to next year. It's a horrible situation to be in regardless, and I hope you don't end up regretting it.

Our wedding is scheduled for 6/20/2020 in Sac, Ca. As of last month, our venue was willing to re-schedule but not refund because the stay at home order in Sac county expired 5/22/2020. Fast forward to today, the order has not lifted as we are in phase 2 of reopening. I emailed my venue today and formally requested a refund. Up until this point they had been saying this wasn't an option but they legally cannot meet the terms and conditions of our contract so from our POV they have to refund our deposit. We contracted with Wedgewood Weddings. I should mention that I eloped two months after becoming engaged for pragmatic reasons but my husband I planned to have a religious ceremony and party this summer. Also, we dont want to reschedule because we are older and were hoping, with god's blessing, to get pregnant right after the wedding. These past few months have been full of anxiety and many ups and downs. Today was devastating because although we knew this could happen I was still holding onto hope. Then I think of all the families who have lost loved ones in this pandemic and I'm wracked with feelings of guilt and "privildge" because I know that compared to death the cancellation of wedding is minor but it still hurts...so hard to put it into words.

We postponed from June 2020 to mid-December 2020 with no issues from our venue or any of our vendors. However, if we would need to change the date to 2021 we would be subject to any changes in pricing between the years/season's. Honestly for us personally, if we would need to move to 2021 we would move it not much further into winter 2021 and possibly not have any additional fee's as our original date and money paid was for peak season. We are not planning on having to postpone any further honestly, we have just done our research and prepared with all information for worst case scenario.

I’m so sorry!! I am in PA and our venue is holding our new date for 8/14/20. We are in Phase 2, so currently they cannot serve food or bar to us until Phase 3. They did not charge us anything to postpone and would refund our deposit if we wish. They told us they would love to host us in any capacity, even if we just want our cake delivered and bring champagne for a small reception and within government guidelines.

I cancelled mine I only received a credit to use up until two years worth 4500 would have preferred a refund but I know a lot of venues are not offering refunds. It’s all so heartbreaking. Hopefully you can work something out with your venue.
