Wedding Canceled - Vow renewal reschedule

Alyssa, on April 2, 2020 at 9:30 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
Hello Brides!

My wedding, scheduled for April 11th, was canceled due to COVID 19 just like so many other brides. My heart goes out to you all! Our situation is unfortunate, in that my fiancé’s job does not allow him to take time off in the second half of this year, so we had to make the decision on whether to wait until 2021 to get married, or just get married on the 11th anyway with just us and our officiant, who is my maid of honor and lives across the street.
We are leaning towards getting married now, and doing a vow renewal in 2021, but now I am not sure what to do with my wedding dress. Do I just save it for 2021? Do I wear it since I’ve been waiting for 18 months to wear it and it’s perfectly altered now? If I wear it, do I get a new one for the vow renewal?
I would love to hear how other brides are navigating this incredibly difficult situation!!

Hell, wear it both times. I'm hating that I have my dress perfectly fitted and have to wait a few months let alone a year! I think it's up to you girl. We're having a small wedding Saturday just him, me, and someone who can officiate, and I plan on wearing a simpler white gown and saving my dress. But if you're waiting a year, do you. I'd wear it both times and enjoy being in it.

Honestly I agree with Kathryn. I’d love to wear my dress more than once. And obviously this situation is horrible and I’m so sorry you had to make such a tough choice, but if wearing your dress twice makes you happy, definitely go for it!

I agree with the posters above☝🏽☝🏽.... wear it twice! IDK what the dress looks like, but maybe next year you can add a belt (rhinestone or with color).... alter the dress slightly... or wear different jewelry/accessories. But I’d definitely wear it twice.

We were supposed to be April 11th too 💔 we had a very intimate ceremony on March 30th, and I wore my dress! We are rescheduling our big ceremony and reception to later

    Hi Alyssa,

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, and I know the uncertainty is super stressful! You are definitely not alone.

But, have you ever heard of a better excuse to wear your dress TWICE?! I'm already jealous of you just thinking about it. Flaunt that pretty dress to both events! You are going to look incredible.

Sending so much love your way!
    Smiley heart

I think you should wear your dress as you intended during this first ceremony. And feel it out a year from now you might have a completely different idea of what you want to look like / wear or you might just want to wear it again. But def don’t deprive yourself of wearing if now!
