Wedding cancel or no

Steph, on April 11, 2020 at 3:27 PM Posted in Planning 1 8
My wedding is October 23, 2020. We sent out save the dates in early March. We were planning on planning the wedding March -August. We have a venue and getting married in the church. We still need: cake, my dress, his suite, taste the food, invites, church class, our rings. We have a DJ, Venue, hair/makeup that’s it. It wouldn’t be too hard to postpone but my question is when do I postpone and/or when do I know when to keep the wedding date. In your opinion if things are “back to normal” how much time will I have to still plan. I was thinking mid June I’d still have the wedding In October. Any later I should postpone, what month do you think ? Sorry if this doesn’t make sense

Steph I think you will be fine by October. Try not to stress. Are your guest local or traveling ?

I feel you, I’m in the same boat. Our date is October 10, 2020 and I didn’t get much of a chance to go planning full steam. I’d say July-August would be a good time to consider postponing if things don’t get better because after that, it’ll really be crunch time since planning should take 2-4 months depending on your wedding vision. For now I’d say just continue planning as much as possible to help alleviate rushing left and right. Try and figure out what you can plan from home such as researching vendors and overall wedding look and all that fun stuff that way when restrictions are lifted, you can go ahead full steam with a set game plan.

My advice is to continue to plan as if your wedding will happen. October is very far away. I am getting married on September 24th. The venue has not canceled or postponed. So I am continuing to plan until I hear otherwise. I have communicated with all my vendors that in my contract if this is postponed or canceled, they will give me a full refund if they can't accommodate the new date. I just booked my dessert vendor yesterday and put down $100 instead of the $500 deposit to hold the date. If things are stable by July we will putt down more. The vendors are being very accommodating. I would say continue to plan.

    Good Luck!

We're getting married this October too! There's still a lot that needs to be done, but there is time.

First things first is I would check with your venue and vendors about what their policies are for rescheduling, or at the very least read your contract closely.

Our venue and vendors are being very flexible and proactive thankfully. I feel confident that they will work with us regardless of what happens in the next 6 months. We're planning to get married in October as things stand at the moment.

I wouldn't postpone! You can plan lots of things remotely. I planned a decent amount of my wedding while I was in school out of state. Phone calls and video chats were great subs for meeting in person! One of my pals is getting married about a month after you and she did an at-home cake tasting recently! I bet you can have catering and cake send you some samples! If you're renting a tux you can do that just a couple months in advance! Dress is a little trickier but I know it'll all work out! My wedding was supposed to be in May, but now it looks like we're going to be date twins so I really hope everything is okay by then! Good luck! I know things are stressful Smiley heart
