🎂Wedding Cake?🎂

Alexa, on June 11, 2022 at 7:29 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 15
Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I aren’t super into cake and we are trying to come up with some different ideas on what we can do instead of cake.
I love the idea of having glazed donuts and possibly a small cake just to cut during the reception.
Any ideas?TIA!!

I really like the donut option as well! I think the guest would really like that but with an assortment of options. I do agree with Rosebud, pastries is also a good idea along with the donuts. You could also due cupcakes. They’re easier to grab and go.

I'm going to have a "dessert table" and just buy a bunch of desserts from a local grocery store! I'll probably have 6 or 7 different dessert options. This will be a lot cheaper and everyone can find something they like!

Love that idea! I feel like a lot of times anyways people spend so much money on their cake and no one eats it. I think doing cake pops would also be really cool and popular with guests! Also a super cool idea I’ve seen is ice cream/gelato carts depending on where you live!

We had mini pies and doughnuts Smiley smile We still got the "cutting the cake photo" by each taking a bite if the same doughnut.

Could you do a chocolate fondue fountain? This maybe could substitute for the central ornament aspects found with tiered cakes.

We did a macaron tower and fed each other macarons for pics. For guests, they had a plated dessert, lemon creme brulee (in ramakins). During dancing, we later we put out a dessert table with smaller-size options like cannolis and cake pops, etc.

Our dessert was a shortcake bar— biscuits, fresh whipped cream, and a variety of different berries. It was a big hit!

My sister had a cheesecake cake for her to cut and bite size cheesecakes for guests in four different flavors.

We're pondering the same thing! We're going to have a small cake for ourselves, but we'd like some variety for our guests. The caterer we're considering offers a chocolate fountain, smores bar, etc. but we may not be able to go quite that hard as it adds up fast... oof lol! Love the ideas here of just getting various goodies from the grocery store, maybe even a local bakery... also considering cake pops!

That is ok and you can use cupcakes in different flavors for the guests and do a small cake like you spoke about for you and your FH to cut. But I love the dount idea
