Wedding Cake Cost

Ashley, on August 24, 2016 at 11:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 34

How much is everyone paying for their cake or cupcakes? My venue also requires me to use a licensed bakery!

You'll get a lot of different answers due to cake size, the ornateness of design, etc. eta: you might get better answers if you ask based on the per slice price. You venue is very smart to require a licensed bakery. You'll be better off too.

Ours was going to cost the price of the cake plus 250 and we had to bring in our own plates and forks. So I check the venue for a 3 tier vanilla with raspberry filling for 195. Super super cheap. Good think we have a grooms cake that will be for the family dinner that night.

Prices will vary depending on many things.

    Where you are located.

    Size of the cake.

    Decorations on the cake.

    Frosting or fondant.

    Delivery fee.

On that note, we paid $202 for a 3 tiered buttercream frosted cake with 3 different flavors, a sheet cake, and 12 gluten free cupcakes, all in all it feeds 125 people.

Why would you want to use an unlicensed bakery?

The average is price in my area is $3-4/serving. I paid $250 for a 3-tier cake to serve 75 people. Each layer was a different flavor & filling with buttercream frosting. I also paid $2/each for cupcake favors that were already pre-packaged (even though she normally charges $2.50 for them). She also did a groom's cake for 30 people for $60.

Cake was very important to me and I expected to pay a lot more (& would have). We stumbled on our baker in the community and are so happy we did. She now does all of our event (bday, etc) cakes and will make us an anniversary cake every year.

$265 for ~80 people. We're keeping it simple and getting a 10 inch single tier round cake (for the cake cutting pictures) and a sheet cake. Our favorite local bakery doesn't do weddings, so they are priced really great, but unfortunately the trade-off is they don't do tiers. But it will be delicious!

ETA: Cost doesn't include delivery, since they don't do that either.

Estimate of $60 for a simple buttercream icing 2 tier (10",8") cake, and $1 per cupcake. Prices may change based off of our flavor and filling choices. I am not using a licensed bakery, it is a home business and she has degrees in culinary and food services.

ETA: there is one bakery near my venue and the owner was in the news for inappropriately touching a customer. Plus I don't like their cake

We are paying $200 for a two tiered cake that will feed 50ppl and we will still have cake left over. Our venue is making our cake so we don't have to pay a cutting fee.

LOL Kristen. It comes with the cost of food/bev. So technically it isn't? If we wanted something fancy they want another $800-$1000! Aye!! And their definition of fancy isn't really all of that imo lol.

The 3 bakeries I'm looking at start at $6 a slice. I'm hoping to get a 3 tier cake to serve 40-60ish for $400. Delivery is around $50. Plus cake stand and topper. All told, I'm looking at $500.

This is the design I like.

Ours is included with our venue. We have to go out to the bakery early next year to pick out flavors and decor. I'm surprising my FH by getting him a super hero cake, which is to say, it'll appear as a normal cake in the front (white sugar flowers and frosting) and on the side on each tier, his favorite super hero characters. Its' going to be an upcharge, but I really want to surprise him the day of.
