Wedding Cake Cost???

JadedRaven, on October 6, 2015 at 10:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

How much did your wedding cake cost if you don't mind sharing, and for how many people?

I'm trying to get a ROUGH idea of the costs of wedding cakes. I'm having somewhere around 90-100 people at my wedding. And trying to decide if wedding cake is one of the things I'm willing to cut costs on.

We have an AMAZING French bakery near us, so I'm thinking of buying just a few "cakes" from there and setting them up on different stands, and not getting a traditional wedding cake. I think I'd rather do that than have a cutting cake with sheet cake in the back. They have amazing looking and tasting cake with soo many unique flavors.

ETA: I'm in the Greater Washington, D.C. area.

That sounds like a neat idea! If you do the single layer cakes, I think your multiple stands should be different heights. We have a 4 tier cake, 2 flavored alternating layers. It was $600.

Luckily, mine was included with my venue. Had I gone with an outside vendor, I would have had to pay for the cake (obviously) and then $3 per slice, or per person, I forget, for the venue to cut it. I remember how crazy I thought that was when I read it.

Ours was about $500 and it fed about 120 people.

Everyone said it was good. At the time I couldn't eat any cause sweets made me sick, but we had some left over... that my parents ate while we were on our honeymoon.

In Massachusetts - 3 tiered wedding cake, fresh roses on top, tiers separated by satin ribbon of our wedding colors, the yummiest fall flavor I've ever tasted: Apple Cinnamon Chai, for 100 guests: $485.00 including delivery.

Our tiered cake is $3.50 - $4 per slice. We're going to have a three-tier cake that serves 100 for $400, and then a sheet cake for 100, that will cost $155. So total our desserts will be about $555.

Our cake is 1200. It is 4 tiers and heavily decorated. Serves about 150. And the top tier is for freezing.

The best thing to do would be to start collecting quotes from your local bakeries, since this varies a lot by region and by style. Mine is $2.50/serving.

I think we're coming in around $1100. Cake will feed 200 and I think we decided on 4 tiers (haven't had the main design appointment yet after we placed our deposit). The cake will be all one flavor and decorated, but not heavily...we wanted it to be fairly simple. Price does not include any topper or cake stand. We purchased the topper separately and are renting a stand from our linen rental vendor.

Mine cake will be 3 tiers for 90-100 people, buttercream frosting no fondant and frosting decorations. It came to $350 dollars. Then the cake topper was $60.

We're doing a 3 tier, buttercream frosting, simple swirl pattern and a dessert bar with bread pudding shooters, banana pudding shooters and mini red velvet cupcakes. For 100 people at $450.

I think this confirms my original plan. Their cakes are really pretty. Then I can have different flavors too. Cake isn't one of my splurge items. Thanks everyone!

Ours was 3 tiers with a "kitchen cake" in case we needed more than we thought. Ours was priced per person at $2.99 a person.
