Wedding Buffet limited or unlimited?

Samantha, on January 24, 2023 at 12:35 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Is buffet style catering like an all you can eat buffet? Is it limited? I am just not sure how it works and am not wanting to pay for everyone to stuff themselves full with multiple trips to the buffet.

I think this depends on the caterer. Have you booked your caterer yet? If so, check with them on what their policy is. Buffet style usually means that people line up at the buffet table and select food as they pass through the line, and then return to their seats once they have their food. Sometimes there are servers to portion out the food on each person's plate, and other times people serve themselves. Some caterers plan for an all-you-can-eat style, while others only allow one trip per person. It depends on the caterer and their policies.

I think it depends on the caterer. A venue gave me great insight, buffet is usually twice the amount of food because they make enough of each entree option for each guest. The buffet option was cheaper at every single venue/caterer I looked at.

Hi I had a buffet style for our wedding reception and we had a bundce of food and they were able to have as much as they wanted. And we didn't break the bank either and had food to was brought to our home too. So if that's what you want then that is good and your choice on what you chose and I did listen to suggestions that they gave as well. And we were not limited on variety at all just know that carters have said that beef cost more nowadays. So we did have all the choices beef chicken and fish plenty of sides dishes.

It depends on the caterer. Most we looked at offered unlimited trips and only a couple offered one trip only which defeats the purpose of a buffet. Why do you think that everyone will automatically stuff themselves to the point of discomfort and gluttony? Many people are able to discipline themselves with no issues and go home sated instead of hungry from food that doesn’t get touched at a plated meal. Depending on the caterer, you may be able to donate leftovers to a local shelter or take them home.

Typically you give them a head count and they make enough food to accommodate guests taking enough to get full without over doing it. Sometimes it’s cheaper that way than what a plated meal costs.
