How much did you guys spend on the wedding? My FH and I are trying to decide on a budget. I know my wedding is next year, but I'm also doing a lot of DIY's

Just over 10k for 120 guests. We are saving towards 20k total to include the honeymoon and any unforeseen expenses.

    Absolutely girl.

Get a quote from your local party supply store for linens after picking out your table sizes and quantity. Then hop on linentablecloth . Com and price out the same linens to buy then wait for a big sale. I spent less than 1/3 of the cost of renting to BUY all linens and napkins.

Also.... glass bottles. Strip labels. Spray paint. Perfect centerpieces.

Loose greenery on tables rather than bouquets of flowers are a huge savings.

Consider for your booze costs... white wine, red wine, beer and 2 signature cocktails. Pre batch your cocktails so you control cost and dont have as many execution issues day of with bar staff.

Build your perfect playlist via spotify and offer a DJ an adjusted lowered rate to just monitor and hit play.

Honeymoon... check our southwest vacations, wait for sale... book with points... and use your southwest credit card to pay for all wedding costs to accrue points to use... wait for a sale. And you can even register for southwest gift cards.

Food... consider a couple passables and a veggie /charcuterie board . Then some food stations for a less formal more casual approach. Could cut costs in half.

Confetti from dried flowers rather than paying for bubbles or sparklers. You can make the cone shaped holders from book pages, pretty paper...etc. pinterest this.

Find a venue with discounted rate for a Friday wedding rather than a Saturday.

Register for things you will need after the fact... picture frames for wedding prints.... luggage for honeymoon... etc

And for photographer.... look up George street photo. They will suggest a few photographers, cross reference their names and portfolio online by searching on google....pick the best for a third of the cost.

Looking at about 30k for 180 guests. But like most people have said, will depend heavily on where you are and what you want. Tbh, I'm spending very very little on decor (under 1k INCLUDING fresh flowers for only bouquets +corsages +boutinierres). A huge chunk of the bill will be food so if you're somehow able to cut the guest list or compromise on food cost somehow, that's where you might save money

My budget started at $20k (which is pretty average in MI) for 180 guests. I’m done with a good chunk of it, and what I’m estimating it will actually be is 22k - 23K

That's a great plan. Get the venue figured out. Are you looking for a more formal setting or more if a backyard wedding? I'm guessing they should outdoor/backyard locations in Kansas for decent prices? I'm getting married in a desert so no cheap outdoorsy options for me.

We are having about 80 people and looking at $12,000. It was ALOT more expensive than I thought and that is with me doing all my own centerpieces and flowers. Also we saved ALOT of money with our open bar because we bring our own alcohol.

I was thinking more of a backyard wedding since I want a fall wedding it would be perfect to have a backyard/outside wedding. And since I'm basically planning the whole wedding except the honeymoon, I get to pick the venue.

Yeah that sounds totally doable and there should be some places for good values that will still be available since you're doing it so early. We basically started with the guest list and a venue list. Weddingwire was super helpful with venue lists. We also made a sort of "A list" and "B list" where B list would be guests that we could live with not attending/inviting at the wedding but would like to invite if we had room/budget.

Our budget is $10,000 for 25 guests. This also includes our honeymoon to Jamaica. So the actual wedding and reception is under $7,000.

For 100 people I originally thought $5,000, then realized $10,000 for what I envisioned. Then I splurged on a beautiful venue I always loved. It has ceremony and reception space, food service, bar service, beach view, plus indoor and outdoor space in case weather doesn't cooperate. That is about $11,000 in itself, but saves me time finding vendors and planning. So new goal is under $15,000. Will diy decor, favors, keep bridal party small, hire dj we know as friend etc etc.

We're expecting to have 200 guests, and have set a 10K budget, not including the honeymoon.

Right now with the reception and ceremony calculations, we're around $8k so we're still on track for now! Smiley smile Also for reference we are from Milwaukee, WI and picked a venue that is kind of a more public place (a zoo) so we got a pretty great rate on our reception venue. Also his parents are chilling in money for us and will be helping cover the ceremony costs.

I would start getting quotes for your area! Then you'll know a realistic budget for venue & major vendors.

We spent roughly $28,000 for 118 people in Leawood, Kansas.

Most of my friends are spending between $20,000-$30,000 and have guest lists between 150-250.

We would be significantly less in total budget if we hadn’t decided on several very expensive “musts for us”

1 we are doing a Lord of the rings theme and wanted it to be “nicer” (read as not Halloween costumes) for wedding party so we decided that for my 5 bridesmaids, plus my SIL (who is bridesmaid to me but will be on watching kids instead of standing up front), and my mother and step mom (his parents deceased). 3nieces and our daughter (4 flower girls) bought/will buy dresses, shoes, and jewelry. For the wedding party we also have an older niece being Frodo as the ring bearer with a costume we will supply, and the bridesmaids will each have a navy satin cloak with White Faux fur lining

For a man will be supplying matching circus for the groomsmen as well as all the men in the family. We also got the matching flask. Everyone will also get a undershirt supplied by us. And for the groomsmen we were also supply pants and boots; and a sword, belt, and scabbard.

Definitely welcome bags and a farewell brunch we’re more than anticipated. The farewell brunch is 40 per person because we don’t wanna have to leave the hotel on Tuesday and they don’t allow outside catering.

Definitely the biggest factor in pushing us out of that final price range of 15-30k into 40-50k is the fact that my fiancé had me plan a wedding for 40 guest and as of save the dates his count was 98 lol

I'm from San Diego, budgeted $25k for ~80 people, ended up spending a bit less than $22k (exclude wedding bands and before all gifts). The DIY I did was place cards, toss bouquet, invites, and wedding favors.

For the venue/party/food/alcohol, we've allocated up to $11k (venue is $3k and food/alcohol will be about $7k depending on our final menu). We could go lower if we skipped rentals, but it's not worth it to us when you consider storage, having to steam linens, etc. And frankly, that's just not our lifestyle. I'm a full-time student, work a demanding PT job. I just don't have time or mental capacity.

With everything else, including clothes, DOC, DJ, photography etc - it will be closer to $20k. This is with 80-90 guests.

The DIYs I'm doing are flowers, centerpieces and signage (printed from Etsy). Flowers alone in Denver would bring our budget up by thousands.

I love this suggestion about making a priority list and going from there.
