How much did you guys spend on the wedding? My FH and I are trying to decide on a budget. I know my wedding is next year, but I'm also doing a lot of DIY's

My budget was originally 5k but found out like others that that can be difficult lol Especially with my area. Looks like we’ll be about 10k overall (not including honeymoon which we’re pushing to winter after our summer wedding) which isn’t too bad for everything since we have to fly in and we went with the highest package my venue offers. My guest count is probably a little over 40 😊

Our original budge was $20,000 for 260 people in the Midwest. We have now invited 255, and our numbers are surprisingly sitting at about $15,000.

    Totally agree with this!

We thought $35K and priced things based on what tools told us we should spend in each category based on this budget. We found it hard to find vendors that were around that price point (i.e. photographer for $2,000, food for only $15K etc etc) but we live in an expensive market, and our guest list exploded from 150 to 225 so....

Absolutely. I think our actual amount is 106 but 10-20% usually don’t show up which helps

I bet that having 106 is a lot cheaper than 165 though.

    I want 5,000....
    I am hoping for 8,000
I am praying to stay under 10,000
But we are trying for 300 people
(Our families are both huge... about 75 immediate family members not including plus ones)

I wanted to stay at 30k but we had to move our date back so the price per person went up. So we are up at 35k for 200 people.

We’re looking at $15k -$20k tops I’m not going over that. Trying to aim closer to the $15k than the $20k

    Your budget sounds like mine.

Started at 7000. Then I fell in love with an over budget hotel and then in snowballed. Well end up at around 15k for everything

Really depends on your location... what city are you in? How many guests... how many guests traveling in? Formal or not? Booze or no booze?

I'm doing a ton of DIY, getting a ton of free and/or extremely discounted services or materials...

And we are still spending $32k (including our honeymoon which is $6k). The space alone is $8500. Which is our highest expense, then honeymoon, then food. We have 180 guests, half of which traveling in from out of state. We are doing this downtown Nashville.

I'd be happy to send you some discount ideas.

Definitely have to do local research. After inquiring with several venues and my guest count i was able to determine which particular days of the week are cheaper and what time of day. I often learned that DIY does not always mean cheaper. It can be a lot of work and trial and error. Really depends on your expertise. Once i got my numbers i knew i wasnt going over 100 guests. We have a specific number and we are going to stick to it as close as possible. I rather have all the things i want and invite fewer people and make sure its only people we are really close to. I looked at DIY venues (rent space, bring in all vendors) and semi inclusive. They actually ended up costing very similar actually. Thumbtack is a good website to view vendors, caterers, officiants, etc on a budget.

We originally set a budget of $15,000 but after everything it’s been around $23,000 we also added 60 more people to our guest list and my parents offered to pay the difference since majority of the people coming are their side. I’ve had a few unexpected expenses come up.

We live in Shawnee Kansas. Trying to do it around here somewhere. There are a few venues I looked at on here, but nothong has me really happy. I would love if you would send me some discount ideas. None of our families are traveling from out of state, since we dont talk to our families out of state.

If you have a lot of time to plan it’s way easier to stick to budget. I was strict about budget at first until my parents offered help and wanted it to be a bigger ordeal. Just think about what’s important and stick to a planning timeline or try and research long before the timeline “due date” don’t stress too much but set real expectations for yourself and what’s important to you.

Our budget started off at $15K for 120 guests, along the way we’ve increase it and it’s currently at around $20K for 150 guests. The budget doesn’t include rings, dress, or anything related to the honeymoon. Counting those things we’d be looking at more or less $30K

I have a year and seven months to plan everything, so im trying not to stress so much. If we gotta wait another year to habe the wedding we will it gives us more time for us to save money. Im trying to find the venue now so I can get that out of the way and not stress about that to much.
