Wedding budget!

Cassi, on September 24, 2019 at 12:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
So I am 18 days away from saying I do and 15 days from actually heading up to TN (DW from FL). Its crazy how fast these 400 plus days have gone by! We started this plan with a strict 15k budget and really didnt want to spend that even. The final cost of our wedding (not including miscellaneous things) came in right around $17,500. We were gifted $3700 from my parents (paid for venue and deposit on dress) and $625 from his parents (for transportation) and they each were contributing to the bar with bottles of alcohol.
We ended up picking up a $6,000 expense because we came in so far under budget for our wedding we opted to provide lodging for our wedding party for an entire week since they were all traveling to be apart of our day.
Today, at 18 days I have everything paid off except my night of expenses ($510 for bartender services, $100 for officiant and $100 for HMUA) and about $100 left on our cabin!
I have literally been stressing for the last 5 months about the last $1500 of our wedding being paid and today I sit with almost all my night of expenses in my savings account! This is such a good feeling!

How is everyone else doing?
How many days do you have left?
Over or under your budget?
What ended up being more/less than you were expecting?

I love hearing everyone elses stories! We are doing it guys!!!

I ended up being slightly over budget but not by much. I think what I didn't expect was moreso little expenses such as small things I had to buy that I didn't expect to

My budget has more than doubled 😂 but it originally was only 5k for a very small wedding. Thankfully, we came in to a bit of money due to an old job getting in trouble by the labor board. They were required to back pay all employees. So our wedding is sitting at about 12k. The back pay covered most of it. Because of that we were able to go with a nice wedding for 60 guests, and we put our other savings towards a big honeymoon in Mo'orea in an overwater bungalow. Including the honeymoon and wedding we are sitting at 20k 😲😬

That's awesome! We are 10 days out and ended up 3k below budget which is a relief to say the least. There were points I thought we were going to be over budget and made cuts, but I was able to undo those cuts and still are under budget. It's starting to feel real!

We originally said $7,000 and so far we're right around $5,000 with 17 days to go. That does not include all the make-up and misses in matching my earrings to my necklace but let's face it, I would have spent that anyway. I still have to pay another $100 for the officiant, $1,100 for the venue, $250 for the rentals, but that's all included in our total to date. We're actually doing so good I'm taking a couple of days before the wedding to spend time with friends and not do ANY wedding planning! The last thing I need to do is get my dress pressed. Haircut and nail appointments are about to be booked!

I haven't even bothered trying to keep track of those. If I did I would have drove myself nuts. i'd say I probably gathered at least $1,000 in miscellaneous things over the last year Smiley xd

Just this past week i probably spent at least $400 ahaha

Thats an awesome thing to come into though! Blessing in disguise for sure. Funny how things tend to workout when most needed! Luckily our honeymoon was also gifted to us from my future in laws! We got a few nights in a beach bungalow in st. Augustine. Your honeymoon sounds to die for!

Uhg its so close!!! Smiley love Thats a great feeling to come in that far under budget. If we didn't pick up lodging for our wedding party we would have been so far under budget lol even with our lodging added we were still technically under budget (since we had so much gifted to us).

I think we will end up being over budget but not by much right now we are sitting a little under 10,300. But with the little things and other things we need to do, I think it will be closer to 12 or 12,500. Not bad when we didn't want to go over 10.

Congrats! Its crazy how expensive weddings are! I actually just got pretty lucky. I had a lot more declines than I was expecting so gave my final numbers to my caterer and it came in below what I was quoted so I saved about $200 there!

I am!!! My friend basically said I'm going and she paying. Not that I want or need her to but it is SOOO sweet of her. I'm a little freaked but we are doing really good with our list so I think we can pull this off.

It really does!! More money for the honeymoon fund! Our to do list is moving along but there are a few things that I am knock out this weekend. Everything else is basically the week of.

We didn't even set a budget! Some people say that's crazy but I didn't want to be limited in what I wanted to do or get. We agreed that if something was too much, we wouldn't include that. The only thing that I am going way over budget on is my dress. I wanted to stay within $500 but I'm having it custom made so it's a little over $900. My invites and programs are being made at home and then sent to the copier. The wedding, reception, centerpieces, and cake are all included with the venue price. I do have to buy linen because they do not carry my color. I spoke with the manager and we are negotiating the linens I am getting. They were cheap so I purchased them. I always have parties so they will not go to waste. the photographer was $2000 with a photo booth, album, and flash drive of pictures. The DJ is $700 with lighting and all the good stuff. (It's my FH friend) He's works every Saturday and doing this for us. We have to pay him because he's leaving his job to do this for us. So everything is coming along great. It's so funny that you do all this work for one day, then it's over. WOW! I'm trying to slow down the process so we can really enjoy it. Congrats!!

    That's incredible!

If all goes according to plan, we will be coming in about $5k under budget.
