Hi! First post here Smiley smile We are doing a small round cake to cut for pictures and doing brownies and ice cream for the dessert (no one actually ever eats the cake!), so I was just wondering if anyone had done something similar and had pictures of ways to display them. Google search has a couple of photos, but I welcome any others! We will have ~200 guests so it will be a big display. Thanks!

**Edit: I shouldn't have said that no one actually eats the cake. That was just the consensus when asking a lot of people their thoughts as we were trying to make a decision. **

Turn your brownies into the shape of a cake... that would be fun!

It is extremely rude to have the cake there and not have enough for everyone.

As a guest, I'd be fine with you not serving cake, albeit disappointed, but if you cut one and then didn't serve it? I'd be pretty pissed.

Brownies are tasty, but at a wedding, I expect cake.

Not sure what wedding has guests who never eat the cake.

Why cut a cake if you're not going to serve a cake? I don't think it's polite to have food at a wedding that isn't for everyone.

If you're going the brownie route, just cut a large brownie "cake." I hate cake (it's a texture thing). We had wedding pie (maple pecan, pumpkin, and Dutch apple) which we cut and had served to the tables. But we love dessert and had a mini dessert table (cheesecakes, profiteroles, eclairs, truffles, chocolate -dipped fruits, etc), and then "late night" cookies.

Proper hosting imo entails a dessert, it does not mandate cake specifically.

I'm probably the one person who just doesn't get the appeal of the cake cutting; it seems like such a random photo op to me. But I think if you're going to cut a cake for whatever reason, you should serve cake. Maybe cut a brownie instead? Also, I'd definitely have some blondies as well, as some people just don't like the rich chocolate that brownies usually have.

Bahaha @kira, we sent leftovers home with the last guests that left and then took a couple of boxes on our minimoon up in the mountains. Please don't ask how much dessert I ate in the 3 days after our wedding, it was pretty intense lol.

I'm looking to do something similar. Where did you purchase your desserts?
