Wedding bands not fitting to engagement ring. Help?

Ally, on March 18, 2019 at 1:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

My engagement ring is unique.. the setting sits very low, therefore its nearly impossible to find a band to securely fit underneath it. Has anyone had this issue? If so, how do you solve it? I love my engagement ring and much prefer to wear that all the time, but at the same time I do not want my fiance to spend a ton on a band and never wear it bc its uncomfortable

I have a similar situation. My e-ring is very large & so unique that really any wedding band will look out of place with it & will just take away from the ring uniqueness. I love it so much just the way it is & I want to wear it all the time as well. So I will wear my wedding band on my right hand! In many countries around the world wedding bands are worn on right hand anyway, including my home country, so it’s a perfect decision for me!

If you know a wedding band will be uncomfortable or not sit properly with your e-ring, then don’t put it on the same finger. These are the rings you are to wear for the rest of your life, so it’s really important to get what works the best for you.

My engagement ring is fairly unique as well, so the traditional wedding bands aren't going to work as well. The jeweler suggested that we may want to have a custom band made. I got the impression it's not hard for them to do, just takes time and it won't be as affordable as a standard wedding band. I would go to wherever your engagement ring was purchased, and ask them if they can do a custom band, and how much that would cost.

I had the same problem. I got a custom band that has a cut out in it where the engagement ring is. The cut was measured to fit perfectly under the halo on my ring that you can't even tell that the ring has a cut out in it at all.

I skipped a wedding band. Do you prefer that option? I used my e-ring for our wedding ceremony. I’ve never liked the look of double bands.

You can go to a local jewelry store and have a ring custom designed. They will give you a quote for it so that it sits perfectly with your engagement ring. That is what I did since I wanted the stones to match the quality of my engagement ring and wanted it to sit with my e ring without any gaps. It wound up costing me the price of a band that I would have purchased anyway, so not overly expensive.

Thank you for the suggestion! We will do that! The bands we saw that half fit were 700-900

I think that is doable. I paid $1300 for a half carat ring set in 14kt gold with stones that were F/VS1 (totally not necessary on the clarity piece..I wasn't thinking). The original ring that I had them model mine after was around $900...so it was a bit more because I wanted to upgrade the stone quality. Hope this helps.

We thought about that too. My mom didnt get the idea, but I said I am willing to do what I need to in order to wear it comfortably. Unfortunately, as an artist, the more on my hands, the less I can do lol

Yes, I would definitely start with where you got the engagement ring. I'm not familiar with Macy's level of service when it comes to fine jewelry. If you don't have luck there, try talking to an actual jeweler. We got our rings at Helzberg Diamonds. Their customer service is phenomenal. They pretty much have us convinced that anything we can dream of is possible. So, we haven't started designing the wedding "band" portion of my ring yet, but we've talked to them about it a couple of times. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy quality jewelry.

I had the opposite problem. My halo sits high so it would over take regular wedding bands. I searched and searched. We finally found one I love last week. Its a perfect match.

Thank you ladies I have been looking at vintage style e rings and didn't know what to do about a wedding band. So much help! I think I will put e ring on my right hand or middle left finger and wedding band on left ring finger since I am in the U.S.
