Wedding Band Instrument Options

We are trying to figure out which instruments to go with for our wedding band. Our options are as follows:

Guitar + male vocals, drums, bass, keyboardORKeyboard + male vocals, drums, bass, saxophone
Which sounds like a better combination?

I’d go set A because 1) it has the guitar which is a versatile instrument used in a lot of party/dance songs and 2) not everyone is a fan of the saxophone. 🎷

I think the saxophone brings a really great sense of dimension to music played and is a lovely touch, but I would only include it if you have the option available as an extra.
If you choose saxophone over guitar you’ll probably be limited on your song choices because as PP said, guitar is more versatile and much more heavily used in music.

I mean, I'm a Bruce and the E Street Band fan, so saxophone sounds amazing... but they always had a guitar.
So, probably A, as more popular songs use that.

It's totally your choice Brennan! I think the saxophone is really fun and is an awesome extra element, but definitely better suited for certain musical styles!

I think this depends on the general "feel" of your event and your crowd. We have a lot of country fans coming, so the guitar would fit better. But, I could see a sax for a Gatsby-type party. Let us know what you decide!
