Wedding band for an oddly shaped ring?

Katie, on July 31, 2017 at 3:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I've been looking all over for months for what to do about this, but I haven't found a single thing I like. At this point (with a little over a month to go), I'm worried I'm never going to find anything I like.

I am not a fan of the "gap" as it pushes my ring practically into my knuckle, which I'd rather not have as it's uncomfortable and scares me that my ring will fall off.

Any advice?

    I see what you mean.

Can you wear your wedding band on your left hand and engagement ring on your right? I know that doesn't solve wearing them together, but then at least you can wear them at the same time and not worry about them looking odd.

You may want to look into bands/rings that have a curved area near the center to accommodate for rings similar to these. Would be hard to fit without seeing them in person, but may lead you in the right direction.

Have you looked into Two Birch or having a custom band made?

I've been thinking of having a custom band made, but I'm worried about time. (only having a month)

Yeah, my guess would be that having custom band made in time for the wedding is out of the question at this point unfortunately. Most places will need 6-8 weeks at a minimum to do that.

Personally, I wouldn't add to it. It looks as though it has a wrapped wedding band already. Maybe get a band to wear when you don't want to wear the e-ring.

A friend had an antique e-ring that a band would not have matched. So the groom put her e-ring on her finger during the ceremony and she wore it by itself afterward.

I would take it to a local jeweler and see if they have any custom ideas for you.

Custom design would be my suggestion. Did your FH pick it out?

I would suggest getting one custom made. See if the jeweler your FH purchased the ring from has any suggestions too. Like Nancy T also mentioned, while a wedding band is being made, your FH can put your engagement ring on your finger during your ceremony

I'd recommend either having a wrap made or having a custom molded simpler band. I had the issue with my ring being so low set that no band would fit flush next to my ring. I ended up picking a plain band and had them shape the wedding ring to fit around it. If you choose a simpler band like with no stones then you may be able to get it in time since they are only adding and shaping metal instead of setting stones too. Hope this helps!

My girlfriend who was just married has a ring with an odd shape as well and is a ruby. She did not want a wedding band and they just used her engagement ring.

I think I will opt for a custom small band, and use the e-ring for the ceremony. Thanks so much!!

I struggled too. The curved bands weren't curved enough and I have short fingers so my e-ring got pushed into my knuckles otherwise. Honestly, I went to a local jeweler and had them make a shadow band that simply fit around the shape of my ring. They did a great job and I love it. They do have to take your e-ring for a few days to match up measurements but the whole process took a couple of weeks and only cost a couple hundred dollars. Mine is white gold with no stones, though. I can't really wear the wedding band by itself as it looks silly, but FH and I have talked about just getting a plain band for me for international travel and such.

I'm needing help with this too! My engagement ring is a family heirloom and I think looks fine just the way it is, but seems kinda weird to have just the same ring for the ceremony. I will probably end up leaving it alone. I have a small finger and hand and adding more would to me seem to take away from the ring. It's sort of a wave shape. I also still need to get it resized!
