Wedding attire photography, no formal ceremony

Stephanie, on July 8, 2023 at 9:18 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 11
Weddings are soooo unnecessarily expensive 😭 So with a simple courthouse ‘ceremony’, would it be weird to go all out on just wedding photos? Different locations ect all in wedding attire. It does sounds weird to me to do, especially with no actual wedding. But I do really want the whole experience of getting alll made up and having amazing photos! Just without the cost of a wedding 😅

Not weird at all!! We are doing this as well. We had a destination wedding which didn’t result in a marriage (officiant didn’t show up 🤦🏼‍♀️), so we are having a courthouse ceremony to make it official this Fall. We still want the courthouse wedding to feel special though! So I am wearing my dress and carrying a bouquet, and my FH is wearing a suit. And we have hired a photographer to take professional pics during & after the ceremony. A courthouse wedding IS a wedding! It’s no less special or authentic than any other wedding. You are getting married- you should definitely celebrate it! And professional photos are a great way to capture those memories!

Ahh! I’m so glad I’m not the only one! Its definitely what I originally wanted (ended up going down a wedding rabbit hole 😅) I just wasn’t sure, since everyone I told the idea to made it seem weird haha.

A courthouse wedding IS a wedding, and every bit as special! What you’re not doing is the big wedding reception, ie party. Of course you can go all out on photos.

Nope, you’re definitely not the only one! This is actually becoming a really popular option - especially after Covid. There are sooooo many beautiful courthouse weddings on Pinterest and Instagram, if you want to see some examples/get some inspiration.

Not weird at all. This moment is for you and your SO. Create a day that makes the two of you happy. If we had chosen courthouse, I would have wanted the full photography experience. Before, during, after, and all around town. Don't even question your decision.

A courthouse wedding IS a wedding. Always has been, always will be. Weddings are only as expensive and simple or elaborate as you decide. Do whatever makes you both feel happy and special within your budget.

The use of a professional photographer makes sense for having fun and celebrating your marriage. It seemed even reasonable for couples with smaller budgets to get photos at the photographer studio to preserve memories of the wedding. Whatever you can do to make the day special, go for it.
