wedding attire for a groom that doesn't want to wear a tie?

Jeanette, on January 9, 2012 at 9:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Immediately after proposing to me, my FH asked me to do him one favor, not make him wear a tie. I don't care, we are casual people and it doesn't matter to me. even if I am a full dress I have seen this done before. so the question is. He wants to wear a sport jacket and nice dress shirt. Question is should he wear jeans, or nicer dress pants? (here are some sample ideas) I personally think probably the nice dress pants in the first shot. do you guys have any ideas.

    Isn't your dress pretty fancy?

I don't think jeans or the sweater would work with the dresses you showed the other day. Those dresses need a tux to stand up next to them. I think he can rock a tux without a tie:

I love the vest with no tie. I haven't seen something like that before. It's cool.

It is pretty cool, right? I think the shirt has to be super crispy bright white and starched so he looks like he's doing the look on purpose. But I totally think it can work. Maybe even add a funky patterned pocket square that coordinates with the vest.

No jeans, but a nice pair of slacks and a dress shirt would do the trick. If he wants to, add on the vest.

    Uh, Jason Statham.......woof.

A suit without a tie would definitely work. FH and GM's plan on wearing suits. They don't like tuxes.

Seriously Jason Stratham...I just lost all train of thought.....

I like kris's idea of the vest with no tie and a coordinating pocket square to give him a bit of "pop." I think he will look great -- no tie required!!!

Definitely dress pants, your dress is way too pretty and formal to have him wearing jeans in the photos. If he's not too into dressing up the vest is a great idea- my hubby wore a vest as he hates jackets. Also not sure if it goes with your colors, but I love the black-on-black look.
