wedding arch/arbor

Danna, on April 20, 2014 at 9:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi all Smiley smile

my FH and I are looking for a wedding arbor for our outdoor ceremony on 9/13/14 in Beverly, MA (about 20 min north of Boston for those of you who don't know). Anywho, we are looking to rent one and I have looked JUST about everywhere. I'm getting a little discouraged that we won't be able to find what we want. We were looking at garden arbors of the more square looking variety w/ lattice look up the side. Either made of cedar or some type of wood.

Any of you that are renting, or that have rented arbors in the Massachusetts area and could bestow a little of your knowledge on me? I'd be eternally grateful. This has been a pretty tedious journey, thus far.

Thanks!! Smiley smile

We've had the same nightmare for the past three months or so Smiley sad We finally found a florist who could rent something, but it is *very* expensive to rent (we're in NYC, but I've noticed that Boston metro prices are pretty comparable to NYC prices).

If you have a way to get something large to your venue (like, you know someone with a truck), your best bet will probably be to just buy something:

    http://www.amazon.com/All-Things-Cedar-Garden-Arbor/dp/B000EB3ZZM

If you didn't want to keep it, you could probably then resell it on craigslist or a wedding-specific classifieds, like tradesy.com or weddingbee.com

(PS-- just for reference, it would have been a lot cheaper for us to buy an arbor like that, but we have 50 miles to take it to our venue and neither of us drives)

You might want to consider buying one from a garden supply store--or somewhere like Lowe's or Home Depot. My understanding is that it's often about as cheap to buy as to rent, and then you can resell after the wedding.

    Hey,

Thanks for your speedy responses and I'm sorry that you're going through the same issues Smiley sad It's not fun. We are also hoping to rent one to have the peace of mind that it will get there, get set up and broken down without us having to worry about it (unnecessary added stress on the day for us). We looked into buying one and they seem reasonable, but I just don't want to have to worry about the logistics if I don't have to.

Thanks, again! Best of luck to you, as well Smiley smile

I definitely know what you mean about the logistics-- it keeps me up at night!

I did a quick search, and did find this place, which I'm posting in case you didn't see it. They don't have exactly what you're looking for (these seem a bit more rustic-y), but if nothing else, they could work as a last-resort/back-up.

Thanks so much, I did search them earlier and saw that they have a drift wood one (which I love but won't go with our feel) our theme is kind of rustic elegance. definitely an idea, though, if all else fails.

Hmm our florist is providing our bamboo arch. It's considered a rental. Maybe ask your florist?

Check with florists and party rental companies. Also, wedding planners in the area may know who rents out arches.

We bought an inexpensive arch then decorated it ourselves. It was pretty easy to set up, and your florist can easily make it look good.

Nancy-- that bring up a good point. If money isn't really an issue, Danna, you could hire a day of coordinator to transport/put-together the arch.

We were originally going to do it this way, but decided we wanted actual flowers, anyway, so we are planning to go with the one the florist provides (just wanted for the in-person meeting to confirm everything).

DOCs in NYC metro start at about $****-- they could help with your arch and a million other things, though, so it could potentially be worth the cost.
