Wedding Announcement?

This is something you could do, but it's not a should. It's completely up to you. I wouldn't if you're planning on having a celebration with people later on. It's unlikely you would get many gifts, and frankly I don't think anything should be done for the sake of getting gifts anyway.

Announcements are not to get gifts, though some will send them on the occasion of your marriage, wedding or no. Announcements function to tell a change of address, or title, or name. So the person planning a party or wedding in 4 months does not have to scrounge for current addresses, what names you use, or even who the heck is that girl he is with now? Spread the news, and let everyone update their address books. Presents, sooner or later, people may pick either time.

I think it’s a nice way to announce that you’re married now, since most of your guest might not know you eloped. I’m not sure what your new invitations will say. But I think it might be a little odd if people show up next year thinking they’re attending your wedding, only to find out that day that you’re already married.
