Wedding and Planning tips

Ashley, on June 4, 2019 at 1:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hi ladies! I didn’t discover the forums until late in my planning process. I did a lot of lurking. I wanted to post tips and advice I got along the way that was helpful for me!

- once you make a decision, don’t second guess it. This was the most helpful advice I received!
- when dress shopping, ask to see the dress bustled. You may hate it bustled- some look like a fluffy tail!
- if you are unsure about what jewelry to wear, try to find the dress online from the designer. You can mirror what they did. In my case, it was dramatic earrings and no necklace.
- same with hair. If you can’t decide what looks best, look at what the designer did for the styled shoot. My dress had a lot of details that would have been hidden if I left my hair down
- make sure you love your photographer and are comfortable with them! You will spend your whole wedding day with them. I loved ours and it made the day so easy.
- if you aren’t sure what to do, ask your vendor. My florist did an amazing job creating all floral arrangements with very little detail from me. I knew I wanted low arrangements in light pinks and white. They had the freedom to create from there.
- having a great coordinator will make the day so easy. My coordinator worked for the venue and did everything from keep us in schedule to set up and team down of decor. I had such a chill day since I didn’t have to worry about any setup.
- your fiancé may not obsess over the details, but when they have an opinion or idea, always consider it. When my fiancé wanted it liked something I we always excited.
- have an extra friend around the day of. I had a friend who wasn’t in the wedding party with us all day and it was so helpful. She kept us on schedule when getting ready, ran to get anything we needed, and got great behind the scenes pics. It was so nice to have someone there if anything popped up.
- give yourself a few extra hours in your timeline if you can. We had a few hours from the time hair and makeup was done to the time we needed to head to the venue. It was such a fun and chill morning/afternoon. We were always ahead of schedule and never stressed.
- don’t worry too much about gifts for parents and bridal party. They will love what you get them, even if you don’t think it’s enough. Personalized picture frames were an easy and great gift.
- delegate! We took off for our honeymoon early the next morning, so a few people helped with things we couldn’t do like take gifts, return suits, mail license, and pick up decor the next day. It was so helpful!
- take an emergency kit with you. I planned for just about everything (allergies, broken nails, sewing kit) and only used the snacks and tide to go pen.
- don’t run down the aisle and always look up! Your photographer will get better shots this way, and you will definitely want them.
- you won’t even notice who didn’t show up
- you will feel so loved all day. Everyone was so sweet all day long.
- don’t feel obligated to do anything. So many people will have opinions and want to be involved. Don’t be afraid to do things the way you want on your own.

Yikes that’s a long list! I am sure I forgot things, but hopefully this is helpful to someone ❤️
