Wedding Albums

Leslie, on June 5, 2020 at 8:56 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16
I got married July 2019. In my wedding photo package, it came with a flash drive of my photos, some prints, and 1 wedding album and 2 mini albums to give to my parents. All of that was paid in full 2 weeks before the wedding. I am writing this to ask when is a fair amount of time to wait for my wedding album? We are coming up on our 1 year and I’ve asked a couple of times and I get the response “soon”. However it still hasn’t been created for me to look at and edit things before sending it to be printed.

Does your contract have a turnaround time? If not, I would threaten legal action. That’s way too long.

I also got married in July, but we elected to create our own wedding album. Have you gotten the mini albums or are you still waiting to get those as well? I totally get why you are upset. My videographer took nine months to get us our video. He kept push back the date over and over again. Did your contract specify how long it would take for you to get your albums?

It states proofs are delivered within 60 days. And it says that prints will take longer for delivery. But in a reasonable amount of time. I’ve asked so many times for my prints and my albums. I finally got my prints right before Christmas after asking multiple times. When I picked up my photos in September it was expressed I should have my albums by Christmas so I could give them as Christmas presents. I then asked in February and that’s when I got that it would be soon.

My mini albums are the same as my actual album so I don’t have any of the 3 albums. My videographer delivered within a few weeks. It doesn’t specify for how long it will take for prints. But I feel like I had to pay for them 2 weeks before my wedding that I shouldn’t still be waiting.

Dude a year is way too long of a turnaround time I would keep pestering them about it OR to reimburse you for that portion

I feel like I keep asking and asking. I asked a couple of weeks ago and she said the company shut down for Covid so she couldn’t do that. But it was in February that she said “soon”. I assumed it wouldn’t be sent to the printer after they reopened but I don’t know how that interferes with actually designing the album so that I could proof it and make any edits before printing. I’ve been trying to be calm because i don’t want her to get mad and not do a good job on my albums.

Just because they can't be made doesn't mean she shouldn't be able to send you proofs to review especially if there are any changes that need to be made. At this point, I would probably ask for your money back that was to cover the cost of the books.

My daughter got married October 19; digital photos were up in a month and she had her album in hand within a couple of weeks of her making final photo selections.

Yeah if I were you at this point I’d ask for a partial refund

That’s insane! No one should be waiting almost a year! I would ask them to set a deadline for when you will have it by. A specific date. If they can’t do that, ask for a refund for that portion.

Way too long. Send a strongly worded email with the time line. Included I expect to have this by xx date. They’re dragging you along. Then start reviews and threaten to sue if that doesn’t work

We had every single digital photo provided to us within a *month*. We were responsible for prints and the album.

This is WAY too long, even with COVID. They should be giving you a refund, or discounts, or *something* to make up for this delay!

Wow. That is a very long time. I think you’re being way too patient and they are taking advantage of that. I’d apply some pressure and if they still say “soon”, lawyer up.

This is way too long. I would email saying "I need them by 7/1 (or whatever date you pick) or else I'll get a lawyer and demand a partial refund." A year is unreasonable for albums - there's no excuse for that.

As having worked in photography studio, turn-around time for album production typically took 6 months to a year if a client was active. Where are you at in the process...are they working on your albums? Production is a long process and then once the design is finalized and submitted it takes time for the album companies to produce the albums.
