Wedding 2021

Mayra, on June 24, 2020 at 11:52 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10
Hi. I am getting married May 30 2021. After everything that has happened this year with Covid, I don’t feel as excited as I was. I feel terrible for all of the brides that had to cancel their weddings this year and I am very worried even though I still have about 11 months to go. Does anyone feel the same?

I don’t think anyone planning a wedding these days can avoid thoughts of covid (even if it’s a faint thought in the back of their minds). And for us postponed brides, it’s even more of a reality. We postponed our October 2020 wedding to October 2021. But I feel surprisingly relieved by the decision and still very excited about the wedding. And now with numbers increasing again, I’m even happier about postponing. But occasionally I wonder if 16 months is long enough 🤔... mainly because these past 3-4 months of dealing with the virus flew by with no real improvements. But I’m hopeful that life will be better by then. Our DJ is allowing postponements up to a year from the original date. So that’s why we stretched it out as far as possible. But FH even suggested November or December 2021 and I’m not totally opposed to it (even if it means losing the DJ’s deposit and rebooking him again).

Yes I know a lot of spring brides have postponed only a couple of months from their original dates this year, which I don’t think will work. I think you did the right thing by going into next year and even towards the end.

I’m getting married May 29, 2021 ❤️❤️. I know a handful of people who had to reschedule their weddings. One person in particular rescheduled 3 times! I feel guilty sometimes talking about my wedding, however, i still find myself excited, but cautious. Don’t let it ruin this time! I live in NY and we have the lowest infection rate in the whole country so i feel confident we’ll be okay with our 150 guests. What state are you getting married in?

We're February 2021 and although I'm still nervous about it, we're moving forward. It's unfortunate this virus is causing such an inconvenience (in general, not just wedding wise). We've already had to cancel/postpone a couple times (pre covid) and with no telling if or when this will be over, we'd rather not have to change our date again. We feel if we keep postponing until the virus is over, we'll never get married so whoever can make it, great. If anything I just hope the number of virus cases doesn't spike back up!

I get what you mean. Mine is in 2021 but I’ve had a few friends and a cousin have to cancel this year and it sucks. I really hope all of this is resolved by next year, but it’s so up in the air anything can happen. I wouldn’t stress over it too much because at the end of the day you’re still getting married and if brides were able to manage during the Covid high time then I think the rest of us will be ok. I know it’s hard but just try to stay positive and keep your head up. It will all work out

Yes! I’m not getting married until next September, and while we’re still on track and didn’t have to make adjustments, it’s not the same excitement I had before. In the back of my mind I still have the “what if” factor because who knows how long things will continue on this way.

Wedding date twin! While I was initially nervous about May 30th next year, I keep reminding myself that it is still about a year away! There’s no telling what can happen in a year. Also, I have been making sure I ask about postponements and such with all my vendors and everyone has been super helpful and has assured me that money will not be loss. My vendors are also all pretty optimistic about our date which helps! Here’s to staying positive and hoping that the world has a better grip on this nasty virus soon! ❤️
