Wearing the same dress to shower and reception?

Mrs G, on August 8, 2013 at 1:01 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I found a pretty white lace dress I really like...and my bridal shower is in 18 days...so I was thinking it would be really cute for that if I put a light sweater on top? Then wear the same white lace dress for the reception? With different accessories and a sweater...do you think that'll make it different enough? Or do you think it was terrible for me to wear the same dress twice?

Honestly? I would wear it to the shower. I plan to wear my wedding gown the whole night. I know I am paying a pretty penny for it so I am gonna wear it lol.

@toomany i'm with you!!! i'm wearing that sucker all night long! as Mrs.Hicks would say, "I'm going grocery shopping in it"

Mrs G..... I don't think wearing the same dress is a problem, it sounds like you have ideas how to make it look a little different

I wouldn't do it. I can see wearing the same dress for multiple pre-wedding parties, but not for the wedding and reception.

You can wear a cute white dress again, to some other non-wedding event. You can never really wear your wedding dress again.

At first I was going to change into a short white dress for the reception, as per my FH request. Due to our budget & unexpected expenses; I decided to wear my beautiful wedding gown the entire night.

I'm with the others. I'm wearing my gown all night, I'll never get to wear it again and I love it. I wouldn't wear it to the reception if you're wearing it to any pre-wedding parties. Even though you'll change accessories, everyone else is still going to be really formally dressed.

I’m with a lot of the others. Wear the dress for your shower and stick with your wedding dress for the ceremony and reception : )

Im wearing the same stuff to mine, just changing it a bit. I have to leave for my honeymoon right after and my dress won't fit in the car, so I will change probably in the middle of the reception so I'm more comfortable!

I don't think it's "horrible" per se...I just wouldn't do it...But then again, I don't really like wearing the same thing too many times.

I am also with others. I am wearing my wedding dress all night long. I paid a lot of money for it, so I want to wear it as long as I can.

I think it is great for you to wear the white dress to any and all pre-wedding festivities, especially the bridal shower and rehearsal, but I wouldn't wear the same dress to the reception. I would get another dress for that that no one has seen. You want the reception dress (if you change into another dress) to be special.

I'd personally just wear my gown all night. I wouldn't re-wear my shower dress

I like what you said about changing it up a little bit, but I also wouldn't wear this to the reception. In my head (and I'm not doing this, and I'm sure people have other reasons), if you change into a reception dress, it would be for a "wow" factor. And that would kind of be lost if it's a dress a bunch of guests have already seen you in.

Can you wear it to the shower and rehearsal with the change-ups that you mentioned?

Like most, I agree... I wouldn't double up on the dress for the shower and reception... like @Kate mentioned one of the main reasons people do this is for that "wow" factor.. people will be like.."didn't she wear that to the shower??".. although at the end of the day, WHO CARES what people say, do what makes you comfortable and happy Smiley smile

Nah...I really don't want to wear my gown all the way through the night. After the first dances and such...I'm changing. I didn't buy my gown and it WASN'T expensive by any stretch of the imagination...and I'm not OMG in love with it...so...I'm changing. Thanks everyone.
