Wearing pearls on your wedding day meaning?

AugustBride, on April 24, 2018 at 4:53 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 29

Hi everyone,

So I was looking for a hairpiece that had some pearls. But then my mom freaked out because she says that wearing pearls on a wedding day means the bride will have constant tears?

Has anyone ever heard this?

It’s such an old superstition. I don’t believe any of them

I hadn't heard of it before but I got curious and googled it.

"Some cultures believe that the pearls worn at a wedding hold future tears, which the bride will shed during an unhappy marriage, whereas more positive cultures predict that the pearls will take the place of her real tears, as she won't need to cry during her happy marriage"

You can always tell her the second part of it if you really like the hairpiece lol

I haven't heard of it. I wouldn't stress it but it's up to you. I think superstitions are often self-fulfilling. If you think something is going to bring you bad luck then you'll notice any little bad luck afterwards and blame it on the item that "caused" it.

Lol I've never heard of that and will be wearing pearls. So did my sister. If you're worried about other people thinking about it, I wouldn't since I don't think it's well-known or taken seriously at least, but if you're genuinely superstitious, maybe just do some research and see how it fits into your/other cultures. Definitely don't wear them if it's going to make you feel weird, but in my opinion it shouldn't!

Personally, I’ve never heard of this superstition. However I do think pearls on your wedding day are incredibly classy! I would wear them anyway!

For every wedding superstition, there is another one to contradict it.

I'd heard it only once joining this site. Don't care, still wearing the pearl necklace my mother has spent my whole life making for me as a wedding gift.

Oooh I like the second part! I saw something on WW about pearls after I bought some, so I was kind of bummed and not changing it. Now I feel better.
