Wearing glasses on wedding day

Penelope, on September 24, 2018 at 8:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
So I’ve worn glasses since I was 1.5. I have terrible vision that makes me practically blind without glasses or contacts but I feel like there’s a stigma with wearing glasses on your wedding day. I’ve worn contacts before but over time they always irritate my eyes and I feel better without them on. I’m going to buy new glasses but I wasn’t sure if I should buy new ones with my wedding in mind? Is anyone else wearing glasses on their wedding day and if so can you post pics??? I can never find any online

I'm having the same struggle!! I want to wear my glasses, but my everyday glasses are red, so I'm debating getting some frosted ones, but finding them is so hard!! Here's a pic of my everyday ones and the frosted ones I've seen!

Get glasses from zenni.com they are very affordable. I'm going to be wearing glasses as I'll probably cry so contacts won't work. I've gotten these 3 from zenni. I also have a pink pair and a red pair. Priced are really reasonable.

Hi Penelope! Welcome to the WeddingWire community! I think it's a great idea to wear glasses on your wedding day if that's what is going to make you the most comfortable! Also, if everyone is used to looking at you with glasses on, then it only makes sense to look like yourself on your wedding day! I found a few photos of brides wearing glasses, and they look stunning I'm sure you will look just as amazing on your wedding day! What style of glasses did you have in mind for your new pair?

Definitely wearing my glasses! I'd be miserable without them. My regular pair is pretty simple black so I'm just going to go with them

As a fellow terrible-vision person, I see absolutely zero issues with wearing glasses on your wedding day. The last thing you want to worry about is uncomfortable contacts! If you're worried about your glasses not going with your dress I would poke around at online vendors for a pair that you feel goes well

I would get them online but since my vision is bad and I have a lot of alterations to my glasses I’m afraid to buy them online.

My fiance has like -7.5 vision in both eyes, and astigmatism in one. He still gets glasses online. You can always return them within like 2 weeks and get your money back.

I'm going to wear glasses for the wedding too, contacts make my eyes so itchy. And I started wearing glasses every day (versus contacts when I was younger) when I met my fiancé, so he only really knows me with wearing glasses almost everyday. I do plan on trying to find a pair that matches our wedding colors or is frosted, I'll probably keep wearing them after the wedding too - so I want them to be something I'd wear anyways

I ordered an extra pair from zenni from fun. They're solid frames if you're looking for cheap alternatives!

I've got -3.50 in each eye. I'm planning to wear contacts because I don't want my frames to mess up my makeup (on the bridge of the nose where they sit) and I don't want them to tangle up into my hair and basically I just don't want to deal with glasses slipping or tangling or anything at the wedding. Plus, it's hard to kiss and cuddle with glasses on (nerd problems!). Contacts can get a bit irritating toward the end of the night but I'm planning to pack those lubricating tears. One of my bridesmaids will carry extra contacts and my glasses so I can switch back to them right after the party.

If you always wear glasses and you're most comfortable in them then wear them! Your FH obviously fell in love with you with glasses so go for it. No sense in making yourself uncomfortable on such an important day.

I've had good luck with Warby Parker. Not sure what your alterations look like, but I typically need to get special lenses in mine otherwise, they are WAY to thick for most frames. My last pair with the special lenses and non-scratch coating ran <$200. Just make sure you get a pair you like and will wear after the wedding as well

I agree that you should wear what’s comfortable for you. Maybe you can do a blue pair and that can serve as your something blue 😏

I wear glasses for everyday but contacts for special nights out or occasions. I would like to wear my glasses for the wedding but my eyes are hard enough to see, I can’t cover them up. So contacts it will be. Solution, case and glasses will be the first thing I do when we hit the room, I’m sure.

FW is having the same issue right now. FW and I both wear glasses. I wear contacts almost daily and she wears glasses almost daily. I love her with or without her glasses. However, we we first started dating/falling in love, she only wore her glasses. I love them on her! My vote is for her to wear them, but the decision is her's ultimately.

I switch between glasses and contacts, but my advice, wear what you normally do because you don't want to look back on your pictures and see someone completely different. Another thing, if contacts irritate your eyes, I wouldn't even try it. You don't want to have irritated eyes the night of! That's one of the biggest annoyances ever.
