I had brain surgery 6 weeks ago to remove a mass in my brain that was causing tremors and seizures. As a result my head was completely shaved. The surgery was a last minute thing that was scheduled because my doctors feared that I had cancer. I'm recovering well. I'm planning to wear a wig for the wedding. I'm curious if anyone has done this or ever about wearing wigs for a wedding.

To Kerri if you ask her about the wig please do ask her.

Spending money on a pricey wig won't be much of an issue for me because my fiancee and I each have quite bit still saved despite the wedding. I will look into cancer centers in my area. Thank you all for the suggestions. I will try posting updates about my situation when I can.

Shelly, I can totally relate to the "baseball head" feeling Smiley winking I was in a very bad car accident almost 3 years ago where my scalp was severed by the window of the car I was in. I had about 20 something staples to the back of my head, almost from ear to ear. Whoever did my stapling was probably jealous if my luscious hair and just chopped it off! Some parts were shaven under a layer of hair left to cover, but it still looked all jacked up LOL I didn't have to get a wig, but a shorter haircut :/

I can't even feel/see the scars now, which is a relief. My hair has grown back normal over the scarred area... so there's hope for you! Smiley smile

I really hope you're able to find a suitable wig for your big day! Sorry I don't have any helpful tips, but they girls above seem to have given you great advice Smiley smile

(Just wanted to share a lil' with you)

@STB Mrs. Allen I'm glad you recovered from your accident. The staples were a pain. I had about 20 staples and some stiches as well. I didn't see my head until a couple of days after surgery when the bandages needed to be changed. I remember crying and then laughing about my baseball head.

@Abigail M. I should have explained better in my second post about why I was awake. I was sleep when the surgeons drilled and removed part of my skull to get to my brain tissue. After that I was extubated and given awakened so I could communicate with the surgeons, nurses, therapists etc.

No good about the tumors but awesome you're better! my mom might kill me if she ever finds out i'm writing this but... we both started losing our hair about 7 years ago. we both had huge bald spots everywhere. eventually my 'hair' grew back (what grew back is not what i used to have). anyways, my mom's issues got worse & she ended up shaving her entire head as you did. for the past 4 years she's been wearing wigs, which make her hot but she deals. anyway, i believe the link i will give you is where she goes. they provide a ton of services, mainly for woman who have or had cancer. you should contact them & see if they can do anything, be it recommend someone near you or just anything. GL!

@Shelly: I couldn't see the wound, but i could feel it. My FH said it looked, pardon the bluntness, like a "vagina" on the back of my head LOL. We always got a laugh outta that! Smiley smile I hope you are able to find what you're looking for, and soon! Smiley smile

I'm so sorry you went thru this. I admire your strength. As for a wig, there are so many options and YES you could have one that is totally natural and BEAUTIFUL. We aow two beauty supply store here in Pittsburgh. Where do you live? I would recommen a lace front made from Remi hair. A cutom one would be about 600. However a non custom made with Remi hair and in your desired color would be just a nice and will cost roughly 250-300 bucks. The wig comes with mesh lace around the front and once it is glued to your hair line the lace is cut away to naturally fit your hair line. The glue is very secure so be carefully when removing be certain to have it professionally done the first time. Let me know if you need any help I will be glad to help.

If that isn't quite in your budget there are synthetic ones that are very very nice. They can come styled and with some you can still use low heat iron on them. They run about $45-$65 each. The down fall is they are not going to last longer than about 3weeks BUT it will look GORGEOUS on your day.
