Wearing a second dress for reception

LanaKane, on May 29, 2017 at 3:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 38

I just bought my wedding dress (yay!) But since it is corset, it can be a little uncomfortable to sit down. I was thinking of getting a short white dress for the last hour and a half of reception. I was going to get something cheap. Only thing is my reception is only going to be 4 hours. Should i even bother? I posted a picture of the wedding dress i just bought below. Thanks!

I'm trying to decide the same thing. I ordered a hi lo dress from wish. Waiting to see what it looks like when it arrives

A couple of my friends got married this weekend and one changed into a different dress. I will not be and i know a lot of other people on here have said they will not be changing either. However, it is something I've seen

I kinda don't understand this concept....you buy a gorgeous, probably expensive dress that you look magnificent in, wear it for pix and the ceremony, and then spend the biggest part of the day in something "cheap" (your words)?

I'd be wearing that gown to work. Which I could. 'Cause I work from home.....

@celia Milton, by cheap I meant under $100 just so people commenting would understand I'm not going to be spending an arm and a leg on a second dress. Also, I mentioned the reason being was for comfort...

I would stay in your dress....it's only for alittle bit of time and you could miss some really great moments changing.

Gorgeous dress. I plan to have a second dress in case I feel the need to change. It will be a dress I can wear on other occasions so it won't be a waste of money if I don't wear it for the reception.

My dress is awesome when I'm up and dancing but not the most comfortable when I sit. But you don't sit for very long during the reception. I didn't get two dresses but it's a personal preference.

Can you loosen the corset to be more comfortable if needed? That dress is too gorgeous not to wear all day IMHO!!

Im not going to bother with a second dress, but mine doesn't have a train, so it's less hassle.

My dress is a corset as well. I am having the same thought my engagement photo dress is nice enough to wear as a second dress and it's white.

I did. My dress has a full skirt, so it was a lot work moving around. My reception dress is a fit & flare no corset and I had the train removed.

I wouldn't change, but it's your day and your wedding, so do whatever you want to do. Your dress is beautiful and looks great on you by the way.

Personally, I thought of this before purchasing my dress.

"Is this going to be comfortable to be in for many hours, can I sit, eat, and dance comfortably in it?"

If you're ok with spending a large amount of money for a dress for just the ceremony and pictures, by all means wear something else to the reception and be comfortable.

I would also worry that I'd look back on the day and regret not wearing this beautiful dress (which yours is!) for as long as possible.
