Hello all!

I’m not sure if this is the proper group for this discussion. However, I wanted to know if you ladies and/or gents wear your engagement rings all the time.

Recently, I was made to feel bad, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not, about not wearing my engagement ring 24/7. My FHs family and I were talking about planning and my rings and such. When a member of his family said that an engagement ring should be worn at ALL times and never taken off, with quite the attitude. As if she judging me for taking it off. Mind you, I take it off right when I get home, and put it right back on when I go out anywhere. I don’t want to get it dirty, damaged, or lose its shine while I am doing my everyday tasks at home.

So tell me, what do you do? Do you wear it at all times, without taking it off? Or do you take it off for certain tasks?

I take it off depending on the situation. If I think it's going to harm my ring then I take it off. such as showering, cooking, bathing the dogs, working out, cleaning, etc. but I know people who keep theirs off at home, I see no harm in that either. I just like rings so I'm always wearing mine!

The only time I take mine off is when my hand is swollen (happens when I work out) when I am cooking, and when I shower. I completely understand taking if off when you are at home and you know where it is! You should not be made to feel bad about not wearing it ALL the time. As long as you love it and WANT to wear it when you want then that's all that matters!!

It's actually dangerous to wear a ring in some situations. Some people don't want to expose their rings to chemicals. I will NOT be wearing my ring 24/7. It's an expensive piece of jewelry (for me at least) and it won't ever see the light of a gym or touch dishwashing soap. It has some really skinny parts, too.
Haters gonna hate. You do you.

Honestly, I wear mine all the time. i only take it off to workout so I don't scratch the white gold band. BUT I don't think its bad you don't wear it all the time either.

You should do what works for you. But for your gratification, I have been told by multiple jewelers that it’s best for the health of the ring to not wear it when you’re going to be doing anything manually intensive, dirty, or that involves chemicals (eg washing hands or cleaning). I take mine off when I’m working in the garden, cooking, sleeping, showering, cleaning, or working out... so basically when I get home and put it back on before we go out. For this reason, I actually chose a plain band that I could wear doing the dirty stuff (I’ll take it off to shower and sleep) so that I could “always” have that symbol and not worry about causing legitimate damage to my e-ring.

I take mine off the minute I walk through the door at night. Just too many chores to do and dont like wearing it while cooking, cleaning or excising and showering.

I do not sleep, shower, cookk or clean with it on. I also have issues with my fingers swelling so sometimes I take it off as soon as I get home as well

    Everyone is different.
I take my ring off as soon as I get home & put it on when I go out. I rarely wear it in the house & never sleep w/ it.

I have hand issues and they swell often so I wear mine on a necklace and only take it off for showering. That way it is always with/ on me, but i’m Not freaking out about getting it dirty, breaking it, losing it, etc

I used to take it off in the beginning stages in fear of it getting scratched or losing its shine or catshing it on something ( I never ever wear jewelry so this was new to me haha). 3.5yrs later though, I very rarely ever take it off.

I never take mine off. I have insurance on it so if something happens we will deal with it. I LOVE my ring and want to wear it all the time.

I definitely take mine off! I don't like the feeling of it getting wet, so I even take it off to wash my hands. Taking your ring off to do certain things does not make you any less engaged.

Other then that ive only had it off for surgeries thats it . I feel its suppose to be worn all the time to the amount of money spent on it it deff should be worn all the time..my thoughts though

I’m in healthcare so I take my ring off most of my day. I also do research so I’ll wear it to work sometimes. I avoid wearing it when I am working out, showering, swimming, or am going out drinking.

I take mine off when I work out, shower, clean, cook, and sleep.

I actually forgot to put it back on when I got ready for work today so was without it all day it work 💁🏽‍♀️ Doesn’t make me any less engaged. Wear/don’t wear your ring whenever you feel comfortable and don’t let anyone make you feel guilty for doing whatever works best for you!

I take it off when I shower, or washing a large amount of dishes, but other than that I always have it on. Obviously not while I sleep. But I think it’s up to you when you do and don’t wear it. I just feel more comfortable wearing it throughout the entire day.
