Ways to make your wedding fun/unique

Darian, on February 11, 2018 at 6:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
I’m still trying to think of ideas and Ive only been to a few weddings and all were pretty generic. I’d love to here of everyone’s experiences at weddings that made them fun and unique!

There's a few brides on here that are not wearing traditional wedding dresses or wedding dresses that are nontraditional colors. Some got food trucks too, which are starting to become popular. Lots of old traditions are being ditched.

It's up to you on what you want to make unique! I'm having my flower girl toss sea shells instead of petals as my own twist.

Our ceremony is private, and will be very intimate. Because it's so small we won't feel nervous at all and we can really enjoy the moment. We will have my favorite flowers around us and do our sand ceremony, and take many many pictures. We booked the very best photographer in our area!

We are having a big reception right after the ceremony, and we're very excited to celebrate with all of our friends and family. We think we'll do the shoe game, and our family and friends talked us into the dollar dance, which we are excited about. All of our food, besides the cake, will be made by family and that is extra special to us. Our family is doing our flowers for us as well, and we all love decorating so it will be so much fun.

There's so many guest book alternatives, bouquet toss alternatives, etc out there that you can find and modify to make you and your spouse's special day even more unique. Happy wedding planning!!

I'm very early in planning, but I have been thinking about games during the reception. I'm talking about things like the Shoe Game, a modified version of Flip Cup and an elimination trivia game about the bride and groom. We're having a pretty small wedding with good friends and family, so entertainment that is enjoy able everyone (or at least watch) is what I aiming for.

We are having an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding.
if you don’t want to be generic, right now, don’t do rustic. I swear in my area at least half of engaged couples are doing rustic Smiley tongue

I'd focus less on making it "unique" and just make sure the basics are covered, and then enhance where you can. Food, open bar, great DJ! You don't need much more! Make sure your guests are taken care of. Seats for everyone, a shuttle if getting to the venue is tough from where lodging is, if there are no other options. Really good food. Also alcohol.

To me, the easiest way to make a wedding “unique” is to choose a cool venue. Like I knew I didn’t want any kind of standard ballroom for mine. But really, there’s a reason why food/drink/DJ receptions are standard — they’re fun! Don’t try to overdo it.

We wanted to do unique, too, and ended up picking a zoo as our venue. Weather permitting, we'll be having the ceremony in their deer forest. Then, during our extended cocktail hour, guests can explore the zoo after hours or go to the reception site and have appetizers and drinks. We'll also be having a s'mores buffet after dinner, which isn't as unique any more as it used to be, but I love s'mores, so it's a done deal.

Don't have a photo booth or a sand ceremony. Every wedding has those! No signs either. People will know where to sit. Focus on good food, good drink and a comfy seat and your guests will be plenty happy!!! I love the new trend of food trucks and unique venues like breweries or zoos. When planning, remember, less is more.

We had an open bar, an awesome DJ, and a photobooth. All made for great entertainment all night and we’re a lot of fun. Also, a few days before our wedding, we went to our favorite fast food place (In N Out) and preordered a bunch of hamburgers and cheeseburgers. We didn’t tell anyone. Around 10 PM, our wedding coordinators friend went to pick them up, delivered them to our venue, and set them up on a matching cake stand. We all loved stuffing our drunk faces with our favorite foods. Not sure how unique it is but considering the weddings I’ve been to, it is. Multiple people texted us the next day telling us they had fun and thanking us for in n out haha.

I have pretty classic and traditional tastes, but I wanted some personality injected into our classic, traditional wedding. We're doing a first look with our dogs included, planting a tree as a unity ceremony, open bar, great DJ, alternative guestbook, cool seaside venue, and late-night cheeseburger sliders and fries.

I think anything that showcases you and your FH's personality makes it fun and unique! Games you enjoy, your favorite food / candy, a theme...my FH and I are both science teachers, so we're using test tubes for guest favors (filled with honey sticks & doubling as escort cards) and for candy on the tables (one with M&M's, one with after dinner mints, one with sixlets, etc.). We bought the test tube shaped bubbles, too. It's a lot of "traditional" stuff but with our personal twist.
