Ways to ask your Groomsmen and Best Man to be in the wedding....

Kinsey, on February 17, 2015 at 2:18 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

We are thinking of creative ways to ask the boys to be a part of our wedding. Saw a few things on pinterest with cigars but curious - any awesome things yall have done?

We gave them a giftbag with question marks all over it. Inside was a little note asking them, scratch tickets, a shot glass that said Groomsman/Bestman with their name above & a few nips of their preferred alcohol.

Since they were FH's friends, I just let him do whatever he wanted to ask them. He wrote them little notes and sent them with the save the dates.

Our GMs are paired with my BMs so we asked them as couples. Our venue is a ship, so we had a little pirate spin on our proposal. FH has since added 2 more guys to be GM and he just flat out asked.

My fh just brought them out for drinks and asked them without all the frills and crafty ideas....those are cute though, but if you're going for a to the point approach, just give them a drink and ask

FH was boring. He just asked them. Some were asked in person, some were asked over the phone.

"Hey, dude so I'm getting married October 3. Want to be my GM?" When they said yes, he said "Ok cool".

I would think most men would think the gifts are silly. Men are so not like women... They should be asked over a beer or a burger. My son is in my nephews wedding; he was asked at a family breakfast. The soon to be bride sent the girls all packages etc.... Not a man thing. It's unnecessary especially if you're trying to save money.

FH to his Brother: Hey. I'd like you to be my best man. You good?

    His brother: Yep.

End of story. (ETA Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I did for my MoH)

My FH and his groomsmen are obsessed with Breaking Bad. I had Breaking Bad cards made off etsy. On the front, it said "Yo Bitch" and inside he wrote Breaking Bad themed stuff. For my brother, he started it as "Los Pollos Hermanos in law." Everyone got a kick out of it, and since none of them live close to us it was fun.

I didn't think guys cared about this kind of stuff, haha.

We just have a maid of honor and best man. We sent them a letter/scrapbook type thing asking them to be our wedding party. (They are a couple as well)

Haha, most guys - yes. My FH's groomsmen are basically our second set of bridesmaids! They eat up this kind of stuff. I think we are going the free booze and cigar route in some cute gift box idea. I love the nut jar idea so I will probably steal that! thanks!

Just go to dinner and ask them. I don't understand why it has to be a big production.

    We kept it pretty simple.

We found neat little bins, I hand-painted their names onto them, we filled them with tissue paper, stacked in a bunch of candy and junk food, tied tags around the bins "popping the question", and then made them look nice with clear wrap tied with ribbon.

My fiance made his best man a really, really cool mug that also went into his bin.
